Trustees Report to Hastings Athletic Club Account

Financial Year 23 December 2020 to 30 September 2021
This report covers the period from 23 December 2020, the date the Hastings Athletic Club CIO Charity commenced until 30 September 2021, the end of the Club’s Financial Year, the expenditure and income, covers the full financial year.
Like many Sporting Organisations, and other Charitable Organisations in general, the Athletic club was very badly affected by the covid 19 outbreak.
Training opportunities were very limited, so consequently there was a muchreduced income from training fees and, understandably, any new members. The Club was also recovering from the departure of a considerable number of members to a new Club formed by previous members of Hastings AC; this had had an impact on income, with many overheads remaining unchanged.
Furthermore, during this period the Club had to appoint a new Treasurer. It took quite a length of time getting the bank to change signature details etc with a lack of access to Club funds detail in this period. (a further change of Treasurer in the following financial year has caused similar problems!)
The Club continues to learn the benefits of being a CIO.
As will be seen from the Income and Expenditure Account, the Club suffered a considerable loss, mainly due to be charged for track hire which could only be used to a limited extent due to Covid restrictions.
It will also be noticed that the accounts do not balance by £29.24. This, as a percentage of the total income and expenditure, is extremely small.
As we had two different Treasurers in the period, it will be extremely difficult to investigate the difference any further. We are satisfied that there was no impropriety.
Looking to the future, we are hopeful that the returning athletes after all the covid restrictions will enable us to “balance the books”. Although representations will be made to the ARK Alexandra Academy, who manage the facility, to charge a more equitable rate.
