Trustees' Report: Performance and Actvites (Year ended April 2025)
The trustees of Inspire Hope Initiative (IHI) are pleased to present the annual report for the year ended 31 March 2025. During this period, the charity focused on expanding its community wellbeing activities while continuing to provide educational support, advice, and community services to local residents. Through successful project delivery, strengthened community engagement, and investment in volunteer development, the charity has continued to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families within the London Borough of Croydon and surrounding areas.
Objectves and Actvites
IHI aims to provide charitable services to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) residents living in the London Borough of Croydon, but not exclusively. Services include supplementary education support, amateur sports and wellbeing activities, elderly support services, provision of advice and signposting, and general charitable services designed to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of local communities.
The charity seeks to promote health, education, social inclusion, community cohesion, and personal development by delivering accessible and responsive programmes that address the needs of local residents.
Key Achievements and Performance
During the financial period ending April 2025, Inspire Hope Initiative successfully delivered the Move with Nature project, funded by Sport England. This six-month programme was developed to improve the physical health, mental wellbeing, and social connectedness of women aged 25–45 through accessible outdoor activities.
The project delivered weekly outdoor fitness sessions, weekly yoga sessions, and twice-monthly walking groups in local parks and green spaces. Activities were designed to be inclusive and suitable for participants of all fitness levels, creating opportunities for women to improve their health and wellbeing in a supportive environment.

INSPIRE HOPE INITIATIVE
The programme successfully engaged women from diverse backgrounds and encouraged regular participation in physical activity while promoting the use of local outdoor spaces. Participants benefited from structured exercise, mindfulness activities, peer support, and opportunities to build confidence and improve overall wellbeing.
A key achievement of the project was the development of five Community Champions who were identified through their enthusiasm and commitment to the programme. These individuals received training opportunities, including first aid training and accredited fitness and wellbeing qualifications, equipping them with the skills and confidence to support future community-led activities.
Alongside the delivery of Move with Nature, the charity continued to provide supplementary school sessions led by dedicated volunteers. These sessions offered homework support, educational activities, and creative learning opportunities for primary-aged children. We also maintained our advice and support services through community engagement, telephone consultations, and signposting to relevant organisations and agencies.
The charity continued to strengthen its volunteer base throughout the year, recruiting and supporting individuals who contribute their time and skills to the delivery of community activities and services.
– Impact on the Community Year Ending 2025
The activities delivered during this reporting period have had a positive and lasting impact on the communities we serve.
The Move with Nature project significantly improved access to health and wellbeing opportunities for local women. Participants reported improvements in physical fitness, increased confidence, reduced stress levels, and enhanced mental wellbeing. The project also created opportunities for women to develop new friendships and social support networks, helping to reduce isolation and improve community connectedness.
The outdoor fitness sessions encouraged participants to become more physically active and adopt healthier lifestyles. Yoga sessions promoted relaxation, mindfulness, and emotional wellbeing, while the walking groups enabled participants to enjoy local green spaces, connect with nature, and build supportive relationships with others.
The Community Champion programme has created a lasting legacy by developing local leaders who can continue to encourage participation in health and wellbeing activities within their communities. By investing in training and skills development, the charity has strengthened community capacity and increased opportunities for sustainable, community-led initiatives in the future.
Our supplementary school continued to support children's educational development through homework assistance, arts and crafts activities, and opportunities for social interaction. Parents and carers valued the continued support available to their children and welcomed the safe and engaging environment provided by volunteers.
The charity's advice and signposting services remained an important source of support for community members seeking guidance on a range of issues. Through ongoing engagement and support, we were able to help individuals access relevant services and improve their overall wellbeing.
Overall, our activities have contributed to healthier lifestyles, stronger community relationships, improved wellbeing, and greater resilience among the individuals and families we serve.

Future Plans – Looking Ahead
Building on the success of the Move with Nature project, the charity plans to continue expanding its health and wellbeing provision over the coming year. We will seek further funding opportunities to deliver additional physical activity, wellbeing, and social inclusion programmes that respond to the needs identified within our community.
Supporting our Community Champions will remain a priority as we work towards developing more communityled activities and increasing local leadership capacity. We also intend to explore opportunities to deliver intergenerational projects that bring together different age groups to promote wellbeing, learning, and community cohesion.
The charity remains committed to securing a permanent office and community space that will provide a stable base for service delivery and community engagement. We will continue to strengthen partnerships with local organisations, statutory services, and funders to maximise our impact and ensure the sustainability of our programmes.
Alongside these developments, we will continue to deliver supplementary educational support, community advice services, and activities that promote inclusion, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for local residents.
Acknowledgements
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Sport England for funding the Move with Nature project and enabling us to provide valuable health and wellbeing opportunities for women within our community. Their support has helped improve physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, and social connectedness for many participants and has contributed to the long-term sustainability of community wellbeing activities through the development of Community Champions.
We would also like to thank our volunteers, trustees, coaches, Community Champions, partners, and participants for their dedication, commitment, and support throughout the year. Their contribution has been instrumental in helping Inspire Hope Initiative continue to make a positive difference in the lives of local residents.
Finally, we would like to thank all those who have supported our work through donations, partnerships, and community involvement. We look forward to building on these achievements and continuing to create positive change for the communities we serve in the years ahead.
Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities
The Charities Act 2011 imposes on trustees the duty to diligently prepare financial statements annually, ensuring they accurately reflect the Charity's financial status and surplus for the given period. In fulfilling this obligation, trustees are entrusted with several key responsibilities. They must carefully select appropriate accounting policies and consistently apply them. Furthermore, trustees are expected to exercise prudent judgment when making estimates and judgments, ensuring they are both reasonable and sound. Moreover, it is the trustees' responsibility to prepare financial statements based on the assumption that the charity will continue operating as a going concern, unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

INSPIRE HOPE INITIATIVE
In addition to financial reporting, trustees are accountable for maintaining comprehensive accounting records that provide a clear and transparent overview of the Charity's transactions. These records should be detailed enough to accurately portray the Charity's financial position and ensure compliance with legal requirements outlined in the Charities Act 2011. Furthermore, trustees are entrusted with the vital task of safeguarding the Charity's assets, necessitating the implementation of adequate measures for fraud prevention and detection.
