Structure, Governance and Management
Livelihoods Solutions International is a Charitable incorporated organisation registered as a charity on 16 December 2020. It is run by a board of trustees that meets every quarter. The charity was established under a Memorandum of Association, which established the objects and powers of the charity and is governed by Articles of Association. Under those Articles, the Trustees are appointed by the Board of Trustees.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The charity's principal objectives are to support Indigenous Peoples and local communities’ livelihood systems in the Eastern African Region so that they can continue to be vibrant and maintain their cultural and spiritual heritage. LSI collaborates with communities, local governments, and institutions to sustain and thrive in food security, health, women’s and girls’ education, clean water, and land security.
Achievement and performance
The year’s activities have been limited by the lack of grant funds due to worsening global financial situations. LSI has however, made significant success in taking good assessment of the situation under which we operated during the last budget year. Two members of our trustees and an Ethiopian local consultant were able to travel to the region we operated to evaluate, monitor and took good look at understanding the context in which the charity operated in Garda and Maale.
Our effort to raise funds was unsuccessful due to the strained donors’ situation and the resulting inconvenience to the giving world. Although we were not fortunate in securing funding, we were, however, able to scan the ground of our region, especially that of the Ethiopian agropastoral south. Here the Lower Omo sorghum fields that fed over 79,000 Dassenech and many homes were flooded, an experience that overwhelmed and tested the Dassenech's endurance. Thirtyseven villages have been flooded for more than two years now, and infrastructure such as schools, vet clinics, and roads remain underwater. We have noted several natural calamities, such as landslides, on many fronts, but LSI was unable to deliver any assistance due to a lack of funding. We have, created awareness and have helped potential donors
understand the situation about these incidents via word of mouth.
Future Goals
Our future goals will continue to focus on emergency solutions to climate change for the indigenous peoples of the region. Our effort to secure funding will also continue in the same manner to meet our objectives.
Public benefit
From 1 April 2008, Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 requires all charities to meet the legal requirement that their aims are for the public benefit. The Charity Commission, in its Charities and Public Benefit guidance, states that there are two fundamental principles to be met to show that an organisation’s aims are for the public benefit: Firstly, there must be an identifiable benefit, and secondly, the benefit must be to the public or a section of the public. The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission in determining the activities undertaken by the charity. The Trustees are satisfied that the aims and objectives of the charity, as well as the activities reported above to achieve those aims, meet these principles.
