## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**
Livelihoods Solu�ons Interna�onal is a Charitable incorporated organisa�on, registered as a charity on 16 December 2020. It is run by a board of trustees that meet on a quarterly basis. The charity was established under a Memorandum of Associa�on which established the objects and powers of the charity and is governed by Ar�cles of Associa�on. Under those Ar�cles the Trustees are appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Trustees re�re by rota�on and being eligible offer themselves for re-elec�on.

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**
The principal objec�ves of the charity are to support Indigenous Peoples and local communi�es’ livelihoods systems to con�nue to be vibrant maintaining their cultural and spiritual heritage In the Eastern African Region. LSI works in collabora�on with communi�es, local government, and ins�tu�ons to sustain and thrive in food security, health. Women and girls’ educa�on, clean water and land security.
## **Achievement and performance**
LSI’s establishment in December 2020 unfortunately coincided with the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown globally. This curtailed our launch and ac�vi�es 2021. In spite of the COVID 19 pandemic challenges, the charity is able to carry out three projects. It provided 18 indigenous Gamo bamboo houses to eighteen families that were flood and landslide vic�ms in 2020. It also furnished them with local po�ery products and pans made by indigenous po�ers for cooking and home use in addi�on to providing them with cows and sheep. This was a successful project that had funds raised on GoFundMe pla�orm. This was managed by the trustees, principally by the chair, in collabora�on with Gamo Zone Development Associa�on GDA (a part parastatal and part charitable ins�tu�on). The implementa�on involved no cost to the trustees nor to GDA staff and farmers associa�on. The vic�m groups contributed bamboo poles for construc�on. This was considered a good example of Indigenous Peoples managing projects locally.
Boran People in southern Ethiopia (Boran of Olla Ilman Jarso Dimma) that live north of the Boran town Megga who lost all their ca�le in 2020. LSI raised funds and distributed to the communi�es affected to buy essen�als such as food and other basic necessi�es. The project is administered free of any administra�ve cost including staff travel costs.

## **Future Goals**
Our long term goals will focus on emergency solu�ons to climate change and other challenges Indigenous Peoples are confronted with. The solu�ons to challenges we believe should priori�se indigenous knowledge, spirituality and culture and the projects and priori�es should be determined by those who primarily experience challenges. We will also priori�se to focus on celebra�ons of indigenous food, music, and heritage with a purpose to revitalise these and to dynamize the genera�on of Indigenous Peoples pride and sustenance as people. These will further our role as truly Indigenous Peoples focussed and as respec�ul to our values and livelihoods.

From 1 April 2008 sec�on 4 of the Chari�es Act 2006 requires all chari�es to meet the legal requirement that its aims are for the public benefit. The Charity Commission in its "Chari�es and Public Benefit" guidance states that there are two key principles to be met in order to show that an organisa�on's aims are for the public benefit: firstly there must be an iden�fiable benefit and secondly the benefit must be to the public or a sec�on of the public.
Chari�es Act 2006 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission in determining the ac�vi�es undertaken by the charity. The Trustees are sa�sfied that the aims and objec�ves of the charity, and the ac�vi�es reported on above to achieve those aims, meet these principles.
