Message from the Trustees

Rise and Foundation is gradually building up from the challenges of the pressures financial faced by all communities. As Rise and Shine Foundation is building up, we managed to secure 41 committed donors who are donating some small funds each towards our cause. In our last financial years our cause was only donating food banks to the community centres for people in need to help themselves. Our ongoing research findings were that most people who are bereaved, have challenges to sustain the lives during the hard times such as food essentials. At Rise and Shine we considered these needs and engaged the local churches to identify the people in need in times of darkness. With the funds being donated by 41 committed individuals we continue to focus on donating to food banks, individuals in times bereavement within the community to help the families struggling with basic needs. Funds and non-perishable items were all managed and donated successful by volunteers. Through all our effort, making sure our message is heard and is vital for organizational development; we are working with committed individual donors to distribute evenly all that we receive from donors within the communities.

To Our Stakeholders

OBJECTIVES, ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Helping those who cannot afford enough for their families in the United Kingdom is our key area of support within our community, although provision is both insufficient and patchy. The initiative which is supported by several charitable activities both in the UK will help reach and try and cover all aspects of families, young, old living in poverty and not able to afford basic stuff on their own. Moreover, we encourage the volunteers where possible to sign post the community to engage in many activities that will tackle poverty and social exclusion. This also enables the volunteers to learn new skills such as leadership qualities, communication and to become responsible citizens.

The project is focused on empowering, all to become environmental green and change lifestyle. The project provides the disadvantaged with tinned food stuffs, clothing, gas and electricity one off top up for the bereaved. This has been made possible through collaboration with committed donors and volunteers that continue to work tirelessly to see this project a success. This has turned out to be a key mechanism for organizational learning and building relationships.

Rise And Shine Foundation’s aims are carried out for the public benefit. The Charity will continue to demonstrate its commitment on helping the less privileged when our resources improve further, especially with the inflation that is fluctuating in the United Kingdom. Rise And Shine Foundation will continue to strive in seeking more material and financial support from other charities in the UK for this unpopular cause to be a success in furtherance of helping support the less privileged.

Notes to Financial Statements

INCOME AND EXPENSES

In the 2022-2023 financial year our income was £9309.38 donated by our 40 committed donors who donates every month meaning £1500 of the annual income was used to towards bereavement support to the less privileged individuals. £780.89 was used to pay for the charity insurance. Our ongoing target is to ensure that at least 70p in the £1 is available to spend to tackle emergency needs on identified individuals.

Future Donation

The Charity funds are available and gives the charity a reserve to consider more donation to be made towards the needs of our community. We are looking into working with more churches to identify those in need of support in times of bereavement support.

Accounts

Trustees must follow the Law applicable to charities in England and Wales that requires accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the Charity’s financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those accounts, the trustees are required to:

• Select and use suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently.

• Methods and principles of the Charities SORP must be observed.

• Accounts to be prepared on the going concern basis.

Going Concern

There are no material uncertainties relating to events or conditions that cast significant doubt on the charity’s ability to continue as a going concern. Given the in inflation that fluctuating in current year we as trustees had to be more robust and proactive in our considerations. Currently, the expenses have largely been limited same as on our last financial year to storage and shipping and this has helped in keeping them at lower levels compared to other organizations’.

Trustees’ Report

There is nothing more valuable than our communities. Many people are vulnerable when they have lost their loved ones and when they have no food to sustain their lives. At Rise and Shine Foundation we are on a mission to support our community with food banks, one of payment to assist with bills during bereavement times, so no one has to live without the necessities such as food to live stronger. In 2023-24, this mission has been more important than ever. After years of progress in assisting the communities, we’re seeing increasing numbers of people experiencing isolation, depression, during the times of need. Working with local community churches has been valuable to identify people in need. As a Rise and Shine Foundation team been hands on to distribute food banks, churches refer individuals in need. This has only been possible thanks to our incredible volunteers, trustees and donors all determined to see rapid progress in tackling the isolation and stress.

The Trustees responsibilities are to meet quarterly in a year. The trustees review policies and procedure every year, financial accounts and reporting and making sure that the charity comply with the Charity Commission regulations in England and Wales.

The Trustees are responsible for the safe keeping of the accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 2011. Also, they are responsible for safeguarding the of the Charity financial accountabilities and hence take reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. They are also responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the Charity information that is included on the Charity’s websites.

We are still applying for more funding be it material, monetary or in kind to help reach out the needy communities.

Notes to the Accounts 31 December 2023

1. Accounting Policies

a. Basis of preparation of accounts

The Accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention with items recognized at cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant notes to the accounts. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) issued on 16 July 2014 and the Charities Act 2011. The Trustees have chosen to early adopt the Update Bulletin 1 issued by the Charities Commission on 2[nd] February 2016 which exempts the charity from the need to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.

The Trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity’s ability to continue as a going concern.

b. Income Recognition

All income is recognized once the Charity has entitlement to the income, it is probable that the income will be received, and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.

Donations are recognized once received. If a donation is subject to conditions that require a level of performance before the Charity is entitled to the funds, the income is deferred and not recognized until either those conditions are fully met, or the fulfilment of those conditions is wholly within the control of the Charity and it is probable that those conditions will be fulfilled in the reporting period.

c. Expenditure Recognition

Liabilities are recognized as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the Charity to that expenditure, it is probable that settlement will be required, and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.
