DJAMA AFRICAIN (CHARITY NO: CE024356 ENGLAND AND WALES) TRUSTEES' REPORT
The Trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025.
Introduction
The Djama Africain Charity is a community-focused organisation dedicated to empowering migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. Our mission is to enhance their lives by providing essential services in education, health, employment, and immigration support, as well as assistance with English language barriers. This year, we are thrilled to report significant progress toward our goals and an ambitious plan for the future.
Community Centre Development
We are excited to announce our plan to acquire a building for £200,000 to be transformed into a dedicated community centre. This centre will serve as a hub for our community, offering them a safe space for support, interaction, and growth. It will facilitate our mission to foster social inclusion and empower individuals to fully participate in society. Renovations will provide facilities for educational programs, workshops, community meetings, and language classes, addressing the needs of our diverse community.
Fundraising Efforts
To finance the acquisition and transformation of the community centre, we have initiated a comprehensive fundraising program. Every member of our charity is encouraged to contribute at least £1,000 annually. This initiative not only promotes financial sustainability for our projects but also strengthens the commitment and sense of community among our members. We believe that through collective effort, we can reach our financial goals while deepening the bond within our organisation.
Services Provided
Throughout the year, Djama Africain has continued to provide vital services to our community. We offer advice across a range of areas, including:
-
Education: Assisting the community in navigating available educational resources and opportunities to improve their qualifications and skills.
-
Health: Guiding access to healthcare services, promoting health awareness, and advocating for members' health rights.
-
Employment: Supporting job seekers with CV writing, interview preparation, and connecting them with local employment opportunities.
-
Immigration: Offering advice on immigration policies, helping members understand their rights, and supporting them in navigating complex processes.
One of our standout initiatives this year has been our support for migrants who face language barriers. Our volunteer team has been dedicated to providing translation assistance and form-filling services, ensuring that all members can access essential services without the added challenge of language difficulties.
Conclusion
The achievements of the Djama Africain Charity over the past year reflect the hard work and dedication of both our volunteers and our members. By focusing on our mission and expanding our services, we are making strides toward fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for the communities in Coventry.
As we move forward with our ambitious plans to develop a community centre, we are optimistic about what we can achieve together. We invite our members, supporters, and the wider community to join us in this mission of empowerment, inclusion, and support.
Acknowledgements
We would like to express our gratitude to all our volunteers, sponsors, and donors for their unwavering support. Together, we can continue to make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve.

In preparing these accounts, the Trustees are required to:

select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
