This charity replaced the small charity, Lapworth Group RDA 1074295. Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving is a member of the RDA UK. Governance Trustees are appointed to post by members at the Annual General Meeting. Trustees serve up to 2 terms of 3 years. A scheme of rotation exists to ensure continuity of leadership while allowing for the board to be refreshed. The children have conditions that include ADHD and Autism and the aim of our group 15 to provide enjoyment, learning opportunities, improvements in concentration and confidence. Aitrvities Our primary activities are weekly riding sessions for the children during term time at the RDA National Training Centre, Shrewley. The sessions involve learning to mount, control and steer the equines. Progression is in the form of trotknnE and riding independently. The riders also have the opportunity to ride the mechanical horse which aids their balance and enhances their enjoyment. At the end of the academic year the riders participate in a Fun Day where they show what they have learnt and compete against riders from other RDA Groups. PaEe lof4 Lapworth Group Riding for the DTrsabled Incorporating Carriage Driving 1192743 During the year we had 18 parkncipants, all under the age of Ilyears old. The sessions were delivered by 2 coaches and 25 volunteers who supported the children to get the most from the experience of being in a different environment, talking to our volunteers, learning new skills and gaining in onfidence. With encouragement from our team, the group improved their confidence and concentratr'on, improvin8 core strengths and engaged in an activity that would not normally be available to them, thereby achieving our objectives. The feedback from the school was very positive in that the children's behaviour improved and led to numerous conversations about what they had learnt and done during the lesson. At Fun Day, the chlldren were able to compete aEainst riders from other groups and received many rosettes in recognition of their achievements. The charity has a safeguarding policy, in line with RDA UK, and a Safeguardin8 officer. Disclosure and Barring Service checks are undertaken by all volunteers and coaches. Financial Review A total of £3004 was received as unrestricted funding during the financial year, from donations and from a fundraising event. A ￿stricted grant of £5LN) was carried over from 2023 from the Harry Payne Foundation. This fund was used to purchase equipment amounting to £500, as per the terms of the grant. Other, unrestricted expenditure amounted to £2,828. The reason for the increase in total unrestricted expenditure was that this was the first complete year of full attendance of the school since the Covid 19 pandemic. Reserves policy The trustee5 of the charity acknowledge that should the reserves fall below £l,OCYJ then it would not be acceptable to keep offering riding lessons to the children from a local special needs school. Lapworth Group RDA do not own any equines or property and our main expenditure relates to an annual membership of the Riding for the Disabled Associarion VK,. an annual insurance payment and the hire of equines and the arena, in whlch the lessons are given. Reserves of £12.431 are held with Lloyds Bank PLC at the end of this financial period.
