## **Lapworth Group** ## **Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving CIO 1192743 Trustee Report 10[th] December 2020 – 30[th] March 2022** ## **Registration History** Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving CIO 1192743 was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 10[th] December 2020 to replace the small charity Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association 1074295. This was in line with the recommendation from Riding for the Disabled Association to convert groups to the CIO framework, removing the need to report to Companies House, in addition to the Charity Commission and making the charity a legal entity. Funds from the charity number 1074295 were transferred to the CIO on 6[th] January 2022 and charity number 1074295 was subsequently closed. The total of cash assets transferred to the CIO was £13,161. ## **Objective of Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving CIO 1192743** To promote the objects of the riding for the disabled association incorporating carriage driving a charity registered under charity number 244108 ("the association") by providing disabled people with the opportunity to ride and/or carriage drive to benefit their health and well being in the Solihull area. This objective has been met by providing riding activities for riders with mental health conditions and special educational needs, within the limitations of the Covid 19 pandemic ## **Activity** During the Covid 19 pandemic, the Riding for the Disabled Association suspended all activity for RDA groups. When groups were able to restart in 2021, Lapworth Group could not return to usual activity because the school that the children attend had various challenges connected with the pandemic and additional transport problems, which meant that the children did not return to weekly riding at Lapworth group until February 2022. In the summer of 2021, the group supported an individual rider from a secondary school with equine therapy and then riding to help with mental heath symptoms. Trustees can also be appointed by the trustees between AGM meetings to replace a resigned trustee and this trustee will then be included in membership voting at the next AGM. ## **Coaches’ Report to March 2022** We had one independent teenager rider during the summer of 2021. She made good progress during her sessions with us. We started with a group of children in February 2022. We had hoped to begin in September 2021 but there were transport issues at the school. One of our volunteers kindly agreed to bring the children from the school to the riding centre so that they could have the experience of riding. The children who attended were younger and had more complex needs than the children that we have had in the past. It took them a while before they were comfortable with the ponies but once that happened then the riders gained a huge amount of confidence – both physical and emotional. We have an excellent group of volunteers and have been very pleased to welcome several new individuals to our group. During the period, we had one group coach working towards the full coach certificate and one group coach in training. ## **Plan for 2022 – March 2023** The group expects to continue to provide weekly, term-time sessions for a small group of children that are identified by their school as being most likely to benefit from the experience. Assuming that there are no further travel or pandemic restrictions, the group expects to offer sessions throughout the full academic year, which will result in a rise in expenditure. ## **Financial report** All of the funds held in a bank and building society account by the charity Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association 1074295 were transferred to Lapworth Group Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving CIO 1192743. These funds totalled £13,161. Income for the period was £490 Total Expenditure for the period was £1,214.
