TRUSTEES REPORT

The Trustees present their annual report and accounts for the first period ended 21[st ] September 2023 to 20[th ] September 2024.

During this period, the charity had dormant accounts.

Structure, Governance and Management

The charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO) Foundation, as a body corporate under Part 11 of the Charities Act 2011 on 20[th ] December 2020. The CIO registered with the Charity Commission same day. Trustees are legally responsible for the governance and management of the charity. Trustees are responsible for setting up strategies and policies for ensuring these are implemented.

Risk Management

The charity’s Trustees have considered the major risks to which the charity is exposed and have reviewed potential risks. Systems and procedures have been put in place to manage the risks and to mitigate any adverse outcomes.

CPA UK Charity Objectives

• i. The relief of children who have been the victim of child labour or human trafficking trade in particular but not exclusively by facilitating the provision of safe housing, rehabilitation, counseling, quality education, financial support, legal advice, and medical treatment.

• ii. To relieve the needs of women, in particular but not exclusively by educating them about their legal rights and assisting in providing skills development training and economic empowerment.

• iii. To promote sustainable development for the public's benefit by relieving poverty and improving the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities.

• iv. To promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public by the preservation, conservation and protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources.

Achievements and Performance

The CIO was dormant during this period.

Strategic Plans

Community Pathway Africa will focus on developing core activities and campaigns capable of supporting vulnerable women and children in some of the most poverty stricken areas of Africa.

CHILD RIGHTS PROTECTION AND ADVOCACY

The charity will promote basic rights of children and address social norms that perpetuate violence against children by engaging through constructive dialogue with community stakeholders. It will work with the government and civil society organizations to help develop policies and systems that will protect vulnerable children.

In partnership with the local government agencies and funding organizations; CPA UK will provide support and recovery and rehabilitation services for vulnerable children or survivors of child labour and trafficking.

PROMOTING WOMEN’S RIGHTS AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE

The charity believes that investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a path for poverty reduction and for advanced gender equality. We empower women to build better livelihoods, earn more income, and create businesses that provide jobs and boost local economies. Our approach is to design programs and project interventions that directly target the underlying social norms and beliefs.

Our behavioural change interventions targets social norms to reduce child marriage, address gender-based violence, and promote women’s economic activity. CPA UK will advocate for changes to discriminatory social norms and economic structures, laws, policies and practices that marginalize women.

RESPONSIBILITIES STATEMENT TRUSTEES’

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the Financial Statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

The law applicable to Charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees’ to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a time and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period.

In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to;

• i. Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

• ii. Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;

• iii. Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

• iv. State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subjects to any materials departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.

Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at

any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with Charities Acts 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

1. Accounting Policies

a. Basis of Preparation

The account have been prepared in accordance with the receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charity Commission guidance.

b. Charity Status

Community Pathway Africa was established under CIO Foundation constitution and is registered with the Charity Commission under reference 1192724. The Trustees are appointed and function in accordance with the constitution.

c. Fund Accounting

General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other purposes. Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors or which have been raised by the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes. The cost of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specific funds. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.

d. Receipts

All incoming resources are included in the receipts and payment accounts where the charity actually obtains legally entitled income.

e. Payments

All expenditure is accounted for on payment basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where cost cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated with use of the resources.

2. Member Liabilities

The members of the CIO have no liability to contribute to its assets and no personal responsibility for settling its debts and liabilities.

3. Debt Outstanding

There is no particular of any debt outstanding at the date the statement of assets and liabilities which is owed by the Community Pathway Africa and which is secured by an express charge on any of the assets of the Community Pathway Africa.

4. Related Parties

Controlling Entity: The charity is controlled by the Trustees’. During the year, the Trustees received no emoluments or incurred any expenses using Trust funds.
