Introduction

Attached is the financial information sent to the accountants for financial year 2022/23

Income and Expenditure

Income

Total income for the year was £76,012 down from the previous year which was £83,652.

Other income of note for the year was £1,391 for external projects as well as £1,629 towards the mission trip to Bangalore.

Expenditure

Expenditure for the year totalled £54,492. The key areas of expenditure are outlined below.

The church gave the following to other organisations/appeals.

Water Carriers - £4,000
India Appeal - £2,000
Ukraine appeal - £5,620
Other gifting - £3,745

This equates to 33% of the expenditure budget.

There was a reduction in the amount paid for Bank charges from £484 for the previous year to £207 for the year. The closure of the Lloyds account has been completed and it is expected that going forward there will be a further reduction in bank charges.

A budget of £1000 was set for catering and hospitality. However, expenditure totalled £1,624 for the year.

A budget of £12,000 was set for equipment purchases and repairs. This budget has been exceeded by £990. The equipment purchases have all been on equipment to enhance our church services either in the community centre or online. Expenditure has included:

Upgrading of video equipment, including the purchase of:

1 x Sony ILCE6000B Compact system camera body 1x Blackmagic ATEM MiniPro Sony SFL55210 Telephoto lens Samsung led monitor Cables for the above.

Upgrades to the Sound desk and ancillary equipment.

As we still need to use a congregational member’s sound equipment i.e. speakers and other ancillary kit, we will need to agree a plan with them regarding the continued use of this equipment with a view to purchasing our own in the coming years.

Media at £1589 relates in the main to KCC utilising Laura Murray, Media Consultant to provide help and support for our media team. This has proved invaluable as we currently do not have anyone in the church with the capacity to undertake the work that Laura Murray carries out. Going forward there will still be a need for this contract to continue.

£2,827 was spent on a mission trip to Bangalore. Six members of the church went to Bangalore and the church contributing to the costs of flights as well as paying for their visas for those that needed one.

Room hires totalled £5,062 for the year for the use of the hall at Spennymoor leisure centre and then the community centre for the final three months of the year. The cost of using the community centre is slightly higher than the leisure centre, however the facilities are a lot better and include the use of the kitchen and the provision of storage space for church equipment, something that we didn’t have at the leisure centre. This figure also includes the hire of Croxdale Community Centre for Worship team rehearsals.

There was an overspend on the House of Prayer budget - £899.56 against an allocated budget of £300. This was due to the need to purchase additional items for the flat for the various meetings held there.

A total of £2,328 was spent by the various Kingdom groups during the year.

Conclusion

For the year we therefore had net receipts of £27,077, down from £46,163 for the previous year. This is due in the main to the church moving from the leisure centre to the community centre and the need to purchase equipment to enhance the experience within the church service as well as broadcasting the service online.

As a church we aim to spend 30% of our expenditure on supporting other organisations and appeals. We have exceeded our target for the year.

Cash at the bank was £112,509.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Trustees agree the contents of the report.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2023.

Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the basis of report preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or
the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
