This report is for the year ended 31 March 2024.
The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) whose only voting members are its charity trustees. The Trustees meet regularly to make decisions about the running of the Charity. Meetings are also attended by the organisers who run the work in DRC, and by supporters in the UK. Trustees are recruited from among supporters to meet needs for skills, knowledge and experience needed to run the charity.
The charity supported up to 15 orphans living in foster care in Kinshasa, providing food, clothing and medical help. The organisers regularly visited the families to assess needs and to provide support. As the charity’s main activity is the relief of poverty, it is not required to benefit the general public, but only the 15 children. However, we feel that there is benefit to the general public as the children are enabled to grow up to be responsible citizens who contribute to society, which would not be possible if they were left street homeless.
The charity succeeded in supporting the children, who are in good health. They are all in school. We contribute towards the cost of food and pay for medical expenses where necessary. Income was £2,119 and expenditure £1,517. At the end of March 2024, we held £965. The main item of expenditure was £717 spent on the school fees.
No funds are held as custodian trustee.
