**Anglican Futures Trustees' Report**
The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 28 February 2025
## **Objectives and activities**
The object of the Charity is, the advancement of the Christian faith of orthodox Anglicans, for the public benefit, in accordance with the Jerusalem Declaration of the Global Anglican Future Conference declared on 29 June 2008 and which is set out in the Schedule to this constitution.
Anglican Futures provided pastoral and practical support to faithful Anglican leaders and other members of the public. We did this by providing analysis of present and future matters of interest on our blog www.anglicanfutures.org/blog; offering online Ideas Exchanges enabling discussion of different topics; a regular online coffee room and regular emails to subscribers. We have also offered pastoral support to those facing difficulties in the church context, including bullying, disciplinary proceedings and loneliness of leading small churches. We have offered practical support to church leaders seeking advice on change management, starting up charitable structures and many different aspects of church life.
In all these activities the trustees have had regard to the guidance issues by the Charity Commission on public benefit. All our activities are advertised on our website.
## **Objectives for the year**
Anglican Futures has continued to support our subscribers with regular emails (24 over the year) drawing their attention to key events and activities. Number of subscribers increased by 20%.
## **Principal activity and Performance**
60 blogs were published over the year – with more than 31,500 visitors – with nearly 900,00 post views. Attending General Synod allowed us to report on the events taking place and speak to those involved for the benefit of our readers.
We held two in person On the Edge gatherings and in doing so supported clergy and laity who are feeling isolated and unsure about the future.
## **Financial review**
This year saw an increase in income to £31,908 (2024- £13,672), in part due to two generous donations and a successful Gift Aid Claim. Expenditure remained fairly static at £16,650 (2024£16,818), resulting in a surplus of £15,258 in 2025, from a deficit the previous year of £3,146.
## **Reserves policy**
Our aim is to have 3 months operating costs for rent rates and basic expenditure. Currently A Minimum of £.1,500 of Reserves to be maintained
## **Structure, governance and management**
The charity is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) that was registered with the Charity Commission on 4th December 2020.
## **Governing document**
Its constitution is the standard charity commission model for foundation CIO's which was issued on registration in December 2020.

## **Recruitment and induction of trustees**
New Trustees are appointed following application and subsequent approval by the current Trustees.
## **Organisation**
All those involved with Anglican Futures work on a volunteer basis – we are very grateful to our trustees, bloggers and others that assist with our activities
## **Risk management**
The trustees regularly review the risks to the Charity from both external factors and its operations. The trustees consider that they have taken appropriate steps to reduce such risks.
## **Trustee Responsibilities**
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006 and the applicable Statement of Recommended Practice. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
In so far as the trustees are aware:
- there is no relevant information of which the charitable company’s independent examiner is
- unaware; and
- the trustees have taken all steps that they ought to have taken as trustees to make themselves
- aware of any relevant information and to establish that the independent examiner is aware of that information.

This report has been prepared in accordance with the small companies regime under the Companies Act 2006.

## **Anglican Futures Independent Examiner's Report**
I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 28 February 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 6.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the 2011 Act”). The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the 2011 Act and that an independent examination is needed.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
- follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission
- under section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act;
- and state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner's report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: `o` to keep accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006 and section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
`o` to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities have not been met;
2) or to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the special provisions of Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
For the year ended 28 February 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.
