Structure, Governance and Management

The Charity is a CIO registered on 1[st] December 2020. The trustees are appointed / reappointed annually at the AGM held in November.

Application for adult membership of the CIO is open to anyone who is interested in furthering its purposes, and who undertakes to affirm the Law and Promise as appropriate to Scouts and who, by applying for membership, has indicated his, her or its agreement to become a member and acceptance of the duty of members. Warranted leaders and nonuniformed instructors are voting members.

Youth membership of the Group is open to anyone up to the age of 18 who is prepared to accept the Law and Promise of the section (Beavers, Wolf Cubs, Scouts) that they join.

Safety and safeguarding policies are in place and have been updated to reflect current legislation

All adult members give their time entirely voluntarily.

Objectives and activities

The aim of the Group is to develop good citizenship and character among young people who are both self-reliant and useful to others.

This is delivered through progressive training based on the principles and values of Scouting as laid down by Lord Baden-Powell and the Law and Promise given by him in “Scouting for Boys”.

We are grateful for the time, dedication and commitment of all adult members of the Group who help growing numbers of young people in their personal development.

Achievements and performance

During the year we have once again seen a growth in total membership in all sections of the Group an active recruitment programme is in place at all times.

All sections have continued to run active and enjoyable programmes of progressive training, proficiency badges, camps and outings.

Work to refurbish the HQ building and grounds has continued with the installation of propane gas central heating, new kitchen and toilet facilities and we are grateful for the continued dedication of the Rover Crew who have provided labour and expertise.

We continue to have good relationships with other Scout Groups within the Phoenix Independent Scouts Association, and other UK Scout Associations we were particularly pleased to become full members of the World Federation of Independent Scouts, and continue our friendship with The Hungarian scout group who use our HQ for their meetings.

Financial Review

At our AGM the decision was taken to amend our financial year end to align with our academic year the submitted accounts reflect this change.

We are pleased to report that the Group remains in a stable financial position with our ongoing running costs being adequately covered by subscriptions, hall and equipment hire, and fundraising.

All camps and excursions are planned to be self-financing.

Our HQ refurbishment has now been largely completed and on budget leaving the group with a healthy balance.

We are grateful for the ongoing support of our parents and local community whose contributions have been a big part of the groups success as we enter our 116[th] year since inauguration.
