## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

The All Hallows Guesthouse was subject to substantial landlords works over the period and further works funded by the Partnership to furnish and fit the property out for its use as a guesthouse. 

The guesthouse opened in August 2022 and welcomed 109 guests over the August-December 2022 period. 

Further income was generated through the sales of books and gifts and from room hire in the Julian Centre.

the year 1 January 2022 10 31 December 2022. The Annual report serves the purposes of both a Trustees,
report and a directors, report under company law. The Trustees confirm that the Annual report and financial
slalemenls of the charitsble Company comply with the current slalulory requirements, the requirements of the
charitable Companls governing do¢umenl and the provisions of the Slalemenl of Recommended Practice
ISORPI applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicab￿ in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 leffeetive 1 January 20191.
Since the charitable Company qualifies as small under section 382 of the Companies Act 2006, th8 Strategic

To increase & sustsin knowledge of the life and writings of Julian of Norwich by offering resources, courses,
study opportunities and training., by working with others also engaging in the legacy of Julian of NonNich.
To raise awareness and understanding of the religious beliefs, faith. life, and Christian heritage of Julian of
Norwich by making the Julian Shrine Campus known and available by the provision of welcome and hospitality
and information to the public who wsil and who make il a place of pilgrimage from a ¢ontext of the Anglican
catholic tradition mission and spiritualty.

After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charitable Company
has adequate ￿sOUrceS to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they
continue to adopt the going concem basis in preparing the financial 5tatem6nts. Further details regarding the
adoption of the going concern basis can be found in the accounting policies.
b. Reserves policy
There is no current policy for Resetijes. The intention Js that we will build sufficient ragerv98 to be able to
sustain the Charitab￿ Company through period8 of diminished income.
. Principal funding
Principal funding for the year has been grants received from Partnership organisalions., The Community of All
Hallows and The Frfends of Julian of No￿lch. The All H811ows Guesthouse opened in August 2022 starting to
bring in income.

The management of the charitable Company is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected and co-opted
under the terms of the Constitution.
Members. liability
The Members of the charffable Company guarantee lo contribute an amount not exceeding £10 to the assets of
the charitable Company in the event of winding up.

31 December 2022.

As the Trustees of the charrtable Company land its directors for the purposes of company lawl you are
responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006
I'lhe 2006 Acl'l.
Having satiSf￿d myself that the accounts of the charrtable Company are not required to be audited under Part
16 of the 2006 Ad and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of the
charitable Companls accounts carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 I'the 2011 Act'l. In
carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions gwen by the Charity Commission under section
14515llbl of the 2011 Act.

11 Basis of preparation of financial ststements
The financlal stslemenls have been prepared in *cordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordancè with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 10218nd the Companie$ Act 2006.
The financial stslemenls are presents in Sterling, the charitable Companys functional currency, and
rounded to the neaiesl £.
The Julian of Norwich Partnership meets the definition of a public benefrt entity under FRS 102.
Assets and li8bililies are initially recognised * historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise
staled in the relevant accounting policy.
The following principle accounting policies have been applied..
2.2 Golng concern
The Trustees assess whether the use of the going concern basis is appropriate and whether there
are any material uncertainties related to events or conditions that may c2st significant doubt on the
ability of the charitable Company to continue as a going con￿￿ for the fO￿seeable future. The
Trustees make this assessment in respect of a period of at least one year from the date of
authorisalion for issue of the financial 8tslemenls.
Following appropriate enquiries and analysis, the Truslaas have concluded that thè charitable
Company has adequate resources lo continue in opèrational existence for the foreseeable future
and there are no material uncertainties relating to the charitable Companls ability to continue as a
going concem. Therefore, the Trustees have continued to adopt the going coneern basis in
preparing the financial statements.
2.3 Income
All income is recognised once the charitable Company has entitlement lo the income, it is probablg
that the income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured relrably.
Grants are included in the Statement ol financial activities on a receivablo basis. The balance of
income receNed for specific purposes bul not expended dLJring the period is shown in the relevant
funds on the Balance sheet. Where income is received in advance of entitlemènt of receipt, its
recDgnition is deferred and included in creditors as defeired income. Where entitlement occurs
before incom8 is received, the income is accrued.

Expenditure is r¥ognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economi

Expenditure on charitable activities is incurred on directly undertaking the aclivf(ies which further the
charitsble Companys objectives. as well as any associated support costs.
All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT.
2.5 Intsrest receivable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured
reliably by the charitable Company,. this is nomally upon nolificalion of the interest paid or payable
by the insli(ulion wrth wh¢)m the funds are depositsd.
2.6 Tangible flxed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets costing £1,000 or more are capitalised and recognised when future economi
benefits are probable and the cost or value of the asset Can be measured reliably.
Tangible fixed assets are initially re¢ognised al cost. After reGognilion, under the cost model,
tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated
impairment lossès. All costs incurred lo bring a tangible fixed asset into rts intended working
ondrtion should be included in the measurement of cost.
Depreciation is charged so as lo allocate the cost of tangible fixed assets less th￿r residual value
over their estimated useful lives. using the slraight-line method.

2.9 Liabilitips and provlslons
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation al the Balance sheet dale as a result of a past
event, il is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will be r4uired in settlement, and the
amount of the settlement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilities aro recogni8ed at the amount that the charitable Company anticipates il will pay lo settle
the debt or the amount (( has received as advanced payments for the goods or se￿1￿ il must
provide.
Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required lo sellle the obligation. Where
the effect of the time value of money is maleri81, the provision is bas￿ on the present valuo of those
amounts, diswunled at the pre-tax discount rate that reflects the risks specific lo the liability. The
unwinding of the discount is recognised in the Slalement of financial aclivrties as a finance cost.
2.10 Pensions
The charitable Company operates a defined Contribution pension scheme and the pension charge
represents the amounts payable by the charitable Company lo the fund in respect ol the year.
2.11 Fund accountlng
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion ot the Ttuslees in
furtherance of the general objedives of the charrtabla Company and which have not been
designated for other purposes.
Investment income, gains and losses are allocated lo the appropriate fund.

17. Pension commitments
The charitable Company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. The assets of the scheme are
held separately from those of the charitable Company in an independently administered fund. The
pension cost charge represents contributions payable by the charitabl¢ Company to the fund and
amounted to £66612021- £nifj. At the balance sheet date contributions of £nll {2021- £ni4 were payable
to the fund are inClud￿j in creditors.
18. Relat8d party transactlons
During the ye8r, the charitable Company had transactions with Th8 Community of All Hallows, a founding
partner. The Charitable Company r￿1Ved a grant of £50,000 12021- £ni4 from The Community of All
Hallows. The charitable Company incurred expenditure of £3,68912021- £ni4 payable to The Community
of All Hallows, relating to building insurance. At the balance sheet date £788 12021 £ni4 of this
expendf(ure is recognised as a prepaym8nt in debtors.
During the year, the charitable Company had transaclic)ns with the Friends of Julian of Norwich, a
founding partner with a Trustee in common. The charitable Company received a grant of £20,000 {2021-
£20,000) from the Friends of Julian of Norwich.
19. Controlling party
The charitable Company is limited by guar8nlee and does not have share capital. The liability of the
Members is limlted lo ¢onlributions of £10 each.

The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial slalemenls ol the charrtable Company for
the year 1 January 2022 10 31 December 2022. The Annual report serves the purposes of both a Trustees,
report and a directors, report under company law. The Trustees confirm that the Annual report and financial
slalemenls of the charitsble Company comply with the current slalulory requirements, the requirements of the
charitable Companls governing do¢umenl and the provisions of the Slalemenl of Recommended Practice
ISORPI applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicab￿ in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 leffeetive 1 January 20191.
Since the charitable Company qualifies as small under section 382 of the Companies Act 2006, th8 Strategic
report required of medium and large companies under the Companies Act 2006 (strateg￿ Report and Directors.
Report) Regulations 2013 has been omitted.

b. Strategies for achievlng objectives
To increase & sustsin knowledge of the life and writings of Julian of Norwich by offering resources, courses,
study opportunities and training., by working with others also engaging in the legacy of Julian of NonNich.
To raise awareness and understanding of the religious beliefs, faith. life, and Christian heritage of Julian of
Norwich by making the Julian Shrine Campus known and available by the provision of welcome and hospitality
and information to the public who wsil and who make il a place of pilgrimage from a ¢ontext of the Anglican
catholic tradition mission and spiritualty.
c. Activities undertaken to a¢hieva objectives
The All Hallows Guesthouse opened in August 2022. Books and other st¢xk related lo Julian of Notwich were
made available for sale.
A number of tours of the Shrine were conducted for interested groL¢PS and for ￿h0o1 parties.

The All Hallows Guesthouse provldes a welcome and hospitality for those that visit and a pla￿ to stay wi(h a

The Julian Shrine Campus has h05ted Several school visits and lours for interested groups.
Achievements and performance
a. Main achlevements of the charftable Company
The All Hallows Guesthouse was subject to substantial landlords works over the period and further works
funded by the Partnership lo furnish and fit the property out for ils use as a guesthouse.
The Guesthouse cyened in August 2022 and welcomed 109 guests over the August lo December 2022 period.
Further income was generated through the sales of bocks and gffts and from room hire in the Julian Centre.
Financial reviow
a. Golng concern
After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charitable Company
has adequate ￿sOUrceS to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they
continue to adopt the going concem basis in preparing the financial 5tatem6nts. Further details regarding the
adoption of the going concern basis can be found in the accounting policies.
b. Reserves policy
There is no current policy for Resetijes. The intention Js that we will build sufficient ragerv98 to be able to
sustain the Charitab￿ Company through period8 of diminished income.
. Principal funding
Principal funding for the year has been grants received from Partnership organisalions., The Community of All
Hallows and The Frfends of Julian of No￿lch. The All H811ows Guesthouse opened in August 2022 starting to
bring in income.

The management of the charitable Company is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected and co-opted
under the terms of the Constitution.
Members. liability
The Members of the charffable Company guarantee lo contribute an amount not exceeding £10 to the assets of
the charitable Company in the event of winding up.

Accounting policias
11 Basis of preparation of financial ststements
The financlal stslemenls have been prepared in *cordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordancè with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 10218nd the Companie$ Act 2006.
The financial stslemenls are presents in Sterling, the charitable Companys functional currency, and
rounded to the neaiesl £.
The Julian of Norwich Partnership meets the definition of a public benefrt entity under FRS 102.
Assets and li8bililies are initially recognised * historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise
staled in the relevant accounting policy.

2.2 Golng concern
The Trustees assess whether the use of the going concern basis is appropriate and whether there
are any material uncertainties related to events or conditions that may c2st significant doubt on the
ability of the charitable Company to continue as a going con￿￿ for the fO￿seeable future. The
Trustees make this assessment in respect of a period of at least one year from the date of
authorisalion for issue of the financial 8tslemenls.
Following appropriate enquiries and analysis, the Truslaas have concluded that thè charitable
Company has adequate resources lo continue in opèrational existence for the foreseeable future
and there are no material uncertainties relating to the charitable Companls ability to continue as a
going concem. Therefore, the Trustees have continued to adopt the going coneern basis in
preparing the financial statements.
2.3 Income
All income is recognised once the charitable Company has entitlement lo the income, it is probablg
that the income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured relrably.
Grants are included in the Statement ol financial activities on a receivablo basis. The balance of
income receNed for specific purposes bul not expended dLJring the period is shown in the relevant
funds on the Balance sheet. Where income is received in advance of entitlemènt of receipt, its
recDgnition is deferred and included in creditors as defeired income. Where entitlement occurs
before incom8 is received, the income is accrued.

Expenditure on charitable activities is incurred on directly undertaking the aclivf(ies which further the
charitsble Companys objectives. as well as any associated support costs.
All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT.
2.5 Intsrest receivable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured
reliably by the charitable Company,. this is nomally upon nolificalion of the interest paid or payable
by the insli(ulion wrth wh¢)m the funds are depositsd.
2.6 Tangible flxed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets costing £1,000 or more are capitalised and recognised when future economi
benefits are probable and the cost or value of the asset Can be measured reliably.
Tangible fixed assets are initially re¢ognised al cost. After reGognilion, under the cost model,
tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated
impairment lossès. All costs incurred lo bring a tangible fixed asset into rts intended working
ondrtion should be included in the measurement of cost.
Depreciation is charged so as lo allocate the cost of tangible fixed assets less th￿r residual value
over their estimated useful lives. using the slraight-line method.

Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation al the Balance sheet dale as a result of a past

amount of the settlement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilities aro recogni8ed at the amount that the charitable Company anticipates il will pay lo settle
the debt or the amount (( has received as advanced payments for the goods or se￿1￿ il must

Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required lo sellle the obligation. Where
the effect of the time value of money is maleri81, the provision is bas￿ on the present valuo of those
amounts, diswunled at the pre-tax discount rate that reflects the risks specific lo the liability. The
unwinding of the discount is recognised in the Slalement of financial aclivrties as a finance cost.
2.10 Pensions
The charitable Company operates a defined Contribution pension scheme and the pension charge
represents the amounts payable by the charitable Company lo the fund in respect ol the year.
2.11 Fund accountlng
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion ot the Ttuslees in
furtherance of the general objedives of the charrtabla Company and which have not been
designated for other purposes.

17. Pension commitments
The charitable Company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. The assets of the scheme are
held separately from those of the charitable Company in an independently administered fund. The
pension cost charge represents contributions payable by the charitabl¢ Company to the fund and
amounted to £66612021- £nifj. At the balance sheet date contributions of £nll {2021- £ni4 were payable
to the fund are inClud￿j in creditors.
18. Relat8d party transactlons
During the ye8r, the charitable Company had transactions with Th8 Community of All Hallows, a founding
partner. The Charitable Company r￿1Ved a grant of £50,000 12021- £ni4 from The Community of All
Hallows. The charitable Company incurred expenditure of £3,68912021- £ni4 payable to The Community
of All Hallows, relating to building insurance. At the balance sheet date £788 12021 £ni4 of this
expendf(ure is recognised as a prepaym8nt in debtors.
During the year, the charitable Company had transaclic)ns with the Friends of Julian of Norwich, a
founding partner with a Trustee in common. The charitable Company received a grant of £20,000 {2021-
£20,000) from the Friends of Julian of Norwich.
19. Controlling party
The charitable Company is limited by guar8nlee and does not have share capital. The liability of the
Members is limlted lo ¢onlributions of £10 each.
