## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the period** **From Jan 2022 To August 2023** ## **Charity name: Shams For Equity and Social Justice** ## **Charity registration number: 1192550** ## **Objectives and Activities** The objectives of our CIO are: - Promoting of equality of women with men in MENA region, and equal rights for women and gender-diverse people. - Education the public about gender equality and human rights. - Providing technical advice to governments, media and NGOs on gender sensitive approaches for their policies and projects. - Promotion of human rights, diversity, social peace and equal opportunities for all and advocating for public support for feminism and the principles of human rights. - Providing consultations on gender sensitive communication strategies and campaigning policies for NGOs and programs implemented in the region. - Building the communication capacities of organisation lead or target women in their programs. - Eliminate all kinds of discrimination against LGBTQ+ - Research gender-based discriminations and promote gender code of conducts for Arabic media. Since the registrations the charity hasn’t done any activity yet. Achievements and Perfonnance The launth (A the organization and rts activity is still on hold. So we didny do any work yet since the registration. Financial Review We haven't applied nor r￿1Ved any funding and we haven't spent any money on any activity as wdl. Structyre, Govemance and Management Charity trustees (1) Functions and duties of charity trustees The charrty trustees shall manage the affairs of the CIO and may for that purpose exercise all the powers of the CIO. It is the duty of eath charity (a) lo exercise his or her powets and to perform his or hef functions in his or her capacty as a trustee of the CIO in the way he or she decides in good farth would be most likely to further the WTposes of the CIO; and (b) lo exefcise, in the performance of those functions. Sud) care and skill as is reasonable in the circumstances having regard in parti￿lar to: (i) any special knowledge or experience that he or she has or holds lu. mself or herself Out as havin9; and, (li) if he or she acts as a charty trustee of the CIO in Ihe course of a business or profession. to any special knovAedge or experien￿ that rt is ceasonable to expect of a person ad'ng in the Course of thal kind of business or profession. Eligibilty for trusteeship (a) Every charity trustee must be a natural peTSOn. (b) No individual may be appcmnted as a charily Irustee of CIO: rf he or she is urKJer the aje of 16 years; or rf he or she would automatically ￿ase to hold offtt under the PfOViSions of dause [12{1)(e)]. (c) No one is entitkd to ad as a charity trustee whether on appoirrtment or on any re-appointment unth'l he or she has expressly ￿kn￿rfedged. in whatevef way the charty trustees decide, his or her a¢￿pIanCe of the office of chaiity trustee. (d) At least one of ttrE trustees of Ihe CIO must be 18 yeats of a9e or over. (2) In sdecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees. the charity trustees must have regard to the skills. knowledge and experien￿ needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
