**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

CUDDINGTON WI ANNUAL REPORT 2024-5 Our year started in November 2024 with a new President Julie Matthews appointed at our AGM. We also welcomed Angela Reed onto the committee. In December we were entertained by Alan Haines with his Baby Boomer Nostalgia Show over a glass of prosecco and a slice of cake. We also held a Christmas raffle to fundraise for this year’s chosen charity, St Raphaels’ Hospice. A small group of members met to make Christmas Origami Stars at a craft workshop and again we helped out at the Epsom and Ewell Silver Band Christmas Concert at St Mary’s church. The New Year was welcomed in January with an afternoon of Bingo, a chance to hear the Band of the Scots Guards play at Epsom Playhouse and yet another enjoyable lunchtime roast at the Hogsmill Carvery. We also switched the timing of our meetings from 1.30pm to 11.30am due to the changes to Bar opening hours at Wandgas. In our February meeting, Julia Jane Heckles talked to us on William Morris and Merton Abbey Mills. We also held a collection for the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank. In March Alison Hoyland gave us fashion and colour advice in her talk Never Judge a Book by its cover. We also had our first trip out of the year with a tour of the Mosque in Morden. In April Gordon Thomas gave a talk on If I Can Write a Novel So Can You and 10 members voluntarily supported the Great British Clean Up by litter-picking the area around Wandgas. In May we spent our money at our plant bring and buy sale and on some wonderful hats and bags from Madagascar after Jane Muddle had entertained us with her talk on the country. June was a busy month. We had our 9th birthday party with an appetising buffet lunch and a fun quiz. We had a great coach trip out to the Weald and Downland Museum on a hot and sunny day. Members again ran a Bottle Tombola at the Big Day Out to fundraise and our President Julie attended the National Federation’s Annual Meeting as the delegate for us and 3 other Wis. In July Gordon Gillett gave an informative talk on the history of Tollsworth Manor and during our summer break in August we kept going, with another well attended informal picnic in Auriol Park. In September Hazel Shirley from St John Ambulance persuaded us to go down on our knees and practise our life saving skills and we rounded off a lively meeting with another fundraising raffle. In our October meeting, Andy Thomas explained the Bonfire Night traditions of the Sussex town of Lewes to us and in the last few weeks we have been out to see Starlight Express at Wembley Theatre and to Richmond to tour the Poppy Factory followed by lunch at Cote. On top of this the Book Club, Walking Groups, Lunch Club and Knit and Natter have all continued with their monthly activities, along with our monthly Coffee Mornings and support for Terracycle. In addition to this, our President Julie has been working to finalise a formal rental agreement with Wandgas which will hopefully be signed shortly. Looking back on the year, it’s been a busy and varied programme, but a real challenge for the reduced committee membership to deliver.
