## **Trustee / Chairman’s Report** 

## **Thanks to Trustees and Committee Members** 

As in previous years, my first thought is to thank all fellow Trustees and committee members for their support and engagement.  I could not fulfil my role as chairman without them, particularly, Brett as the Centre Manager and Mike as the Treasurer but also our other Trustee Mandy and committee members Brian, Avril, Denny and Chris .  Their comments in meetings and their help outside meetings is what makes things happen. 

## **Thanks to Regular Hall Users** 

There is also the ongoing support of our regular users.  The centre ticks over very well each week despite the number of people who come and go, simply because these regular users take an interest and a pride in the place. 

## **Final report to The Community Fund of The National Lottery** 

I submitted my report at the end of April this year following their grant of £78,000 for the new rood.  We are expecting a visit from their representative at some point and they will contact us for a further four years to check that the building is still being used in the same way. 

## **Car Park entrance** 

Our wish to widen the approach to our car park entrance has been very time consuming and frustrating. Firstly, we were advised to apply for a ‘dropped kerb’ costing £136 plus £386 for ‘a permit to dig’.  Then we were told that such applications were only for domestic properties.  Instead we needed a ‘Minor Works Agreement’ costing £3,450.  This went to Highways. They needed extra plans and the cost of the proposed work increased from £11,000 to £18,000. This then needed a report from Amey which put forward 67 stipulations, including moving a gully in the gutter and speed humps in the road.  Costs for such work are unknown but would beyond our budget so we have aborted the work outside our boundary line and we will adapt the entrance on our land only. 

## **Solar Power** 

We have submitted ‘An Expression of Interest’ to Great British Energy with a view to installing solar panels in the future to reduce our energy costs and be more environmentally friendly.  Online seminars are to be held in the next two weeks as to how GBE’s ideas for community energy generation might develop.

## **Projects done** 

Indoor gas pipework improved with practical help from County Councillor Chris Gilbert. New gas metre installed. 

Back door replaced External Drains repaired Hooped Barriers at the front of the centre fitted along with car stops Height barrier installed at the entrance to the car park. Partially funded with £2,000 from the National Lottery grant. Large tree at from pollarded to allow a new BT cable. Wi-Fi installed 

Flooring replaced in the Wilton room with a grant of £2,000 from County Councillor Chris Gilbert Projection screen installed in Thorpe Hall with a grant of £1,000 from Community Foundation for Staffordshire & Shropshire 

## **Projects to do** 

Renovation of the ladies’ and gents’ toilets Car park extension Chairs to be replaced 

Projection screen to be installed in the Wilton room with a grant of £300 from Borough Councillor Frank James Mayor’s Fund.

On the 28.2.26 the charity held £135 of deposits.  This is not an income/expense the charity needs to declare as it will be returned to the client.  Though please see notes below 

## Notes: 

1. If you can, I would suggest recording the deposit received as a separate line to the money received for the hall hire, you can use account code ‘002 Deposit Received’ for the deposits. 

2. As in point 1, when a deposit is returned the best code to use is ‘100 Deposit Returned’. 

3. I’ve run the year end journal to move the deposits to the balance sheet.

## **Independent Inspection of the accounts for Stafford North End Community Centre, registered charity 1192497** 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 28[th] February 2026, from the information made available to me. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

I confirm that in my opinion the accounts are a true and fair representation of the financial affairs of the association during the period being reported. 

I confirm that no other material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
