## **Chairman's Report - AGM - 24th May 2022** 

Soon after we took over in 2019, we found that the 60 year lease on the centre with the CC. was due for renewal. 

We were advised that, before taking on a new lease, it would be best to register the charity as a CIO, - a Charitable Incorporated Organisation - this we have done and the new CIO was registered with the Charity Commission on 24th November 2020.  Basically, the charity is now a legal entity in its own right. 

## **The objects of the CIO are** 

- To promote the benefits of the inhabitants of the North End of Stafford and surrounding neighbourhood in the County of Stafford without distinction 

- by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants 

- in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation 

- with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. 

(b) To establish or to secure the establishment of a Community Centre (hereinafter called "the Centre") and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with any local statutory authority or authorities in the maintenance and management of such a Centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects. 

## **New Lease** 

The Charities and Trusts Committee of the CC. only meet twice per year.  They missed one meeting because of Covid so things progressed slowly.  Progress has now been made and the new 25 year lease has been agreed but is not yet signed.  A further delay was caused by bringing up the details of our insurance to the levels demanded by the CC.
