The charity received registration from Charities Commission (England) on 23[rd] November 2020

Trustees were appointed based on: familial and non-familial links to the Christopher Richard James Tromans, who died on 5[th] April 2016. He had endured life limiting health conditions which although they affected him during his short life of 28 years, his determination, courage and effort ensured that he lived life to the full. He was and continues to be an inspiration to others, which is why the decision to establish a foundation in his name was the next step.

Trustees have been drawn from within his family of origin and lifelong friends. Passion and commitment was important during the selection process but also abilities, skills and knowledge not only of the condition and health issues experienced by Christopher during his short life, but also the skills and knowledge that would be necessary to establish the foundation, including governance aspects.

A Conflict of Interest Register was initiated at the Trustee meeting on 31[st] January 2021 and is now a formal part of each meeting. The Trustees confirmed that they had no conflicts of interest.

Risk management statement

The trustees take responsibility for management of risk with CRJTromans Foundation. Major risks are reviewed by the Trustees at their regular meetings and control systems have been established to manage those risks. Ongoing risks relate to securing sustainable funding.

Public benefit statement

All trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to guidance on public benefit when exercising their duties.

Financial review

Theaccounts have been prepared on receipts and payments basis. The Foundation has made no financial guarantees, has no debts and no funds are in deficit.

Financial Period > 2020/2022

The charity had no financial assets (other than cash) for the period 23[rd] November 2020– 31[st] March 2022. The charity received a £5,000 bequest from Anthony and June Tromans on 26[th] July 2021; and was thanked unanimously by the remainder of trustees.

Section three: Objectives and activities
Summary of the The Trustees shall hold the trust fund and its
income upon trust to apply them for the

set out in its following objects (“the objects”):

Summary of the main a. To create links/partnerships with specialist activities in relation professional clinical centres who are currently treating children/adolescents with existing to these objects liver conditions. Centres such as the Childrens Liver Disease Foundation (CDLF) b. To raise funds, in the name of Christopher Richard James Tromans Foundation CRJTF, to make restricted donations to specialist centres, such as CDLF – which are restricted donations to be used within parameters set by CRJTF that they be updated on how the funds have been used to benefit children/adolescents/families within the ethos of the gift i.e. create and uplift in emotional well-being c. From a lived experience perspective, family and friends of Christopher Richard James Tromans will seek opportunities to raise awareness of the impact of liver disease on children/adolescents/families; and the need for funds to help increase their emotional resilience.

Section four: Achievements and performance

Financial Period 2020/22: During the financial period, and against the challenging background of the covid-19 pandemic, family and friends of Christopher Richard James Tromans established a Foundation in his name, which is registered with the Charities Commission for England & Wales, on 23[rd] November 2020.

Trustees maintained contact via zoom, and roles defined within the team.

Contact was made with CLDF to discuss and develop a protocol for CRJTF to make restricted donations, for the application by CLDF to improve the emotional well-being of children/adolescents that they were working with directly.

A bank account was established, receiving a donation of the initial sum of £5,000 from the parents of Christopher Richard James Tromans. Subsequently a cheque was sent to CLDF for the amount of £1,000 for disbursement as agreed, including stipulation that there would be

feedback on outcomes. Initial work commenced on the development of a website, and also selection of an online donor platform.

Section Five: Next steps

During the next financial year 2022/23 the trustees will focus on developing a robust fund raising strategy; and use social media to cascade information to the wider network of individuals who knew Christopher during his short life, about the Foundation and an invitation to them to help us to achieve the aims set out in his name.

Section Six: Acknowledgements

The establishment of the Foundation in the name of Christopher Richard James Tromans has only been possible through the commitment and dedication of family and friends.

We are grateful for support of all those who have made donations (of time and money) during the first financial period.
