The Object for which the charity is established is to promote human rights anywhere in the world by all or any of the following means:

- (1) the promotion of awareness of human trafficking, its causes, manifestations, and its destructive effects and adverse consequences, including within locations wherever potential victims may originate;
- (2) to contribute to the prevention and relief of human suffering of anyone who may have been the victim of human trafficking, in

particular through the provision of immediate support including the provision of medical, psychological, educational and social support services and legal aid, to the victims of human trafficking;
- (3) to contribute to the relief of financial and other hardship of anyone who may have been the victim of human trafficking, in particular through assistance with repatriation, housing and social and community re-integration;
- (4) to contribute to the research and advancement of knowledge and education for the public benefit regarding all aspects of human trafficking;
- (5) to reduce and eradicate human trafficking in all its aspects, including the promotion of means by which to combat modern slavery;
(6) to partner with other organisations who have similar objectives and to provide funds for their work.
The Charity was established in November 2020.
In this first year of the Charity, the main focus for the Trustees and working board was to confirm and evaluate the current and emerging deficiencies in support for victims of human trafficking.
This was to set a solid framework for our future activity and to ensure that our work was focussed for maximum public benefit avoiding duplication of effort within this sector.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
Many activities were curtailed by COVID restrictions. A Bank account was eventually opened in March 2021 and HMRC clearance was achieved for Gift Aid.
The Trustees established a working board of experts within a broad range of expertise in the field of Human Trafficking eg front line charities, Human Rights legislation, data analysis, trauma therapy, NRM policy & procedure, academic research, survivor groups.
The working board met virtually on a monthly basis and discussions were held with numerous experts in this field to gather and sift idea on best (and least good) practice. Several alliance opportunities were evealuated.
A grant proposal was initiated in collaboration with St Mary’s University and RENATE to fund research on the availability and benefit of legal support to victims of modern slavery.
The Trustees participated in the development of a new BSI Standard on Anti Modern Slavery for private sector organisations. This policy is now launched.
Round table discussion on development areas for anti-modern slavery activity was held with the Anti Modern Slavery Commissioner, BSI Chairman, Mary Ward Loreto Albania President and other charity representatives. This is to be continued.
Much of the work this year will serve as a foundation for future activities.
