Ob"ectives and activities
The purchase of Shllllngford Wood In the county of Devon to ensure
it remains a diverse woodland area, is always managed in a wildlife
friendly manner and remains open to the local community and wider
public where possible. To give individuals and groups the
opportunlty to become involved In the management of the wood. To
make available a peaceful and accessible woodland area for the
enjoyment of the public and to increase appreciation of the natural
world. To work with related organisations on the promotion of good
environmental
ractice.
Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
Having raised sufficient funds for the purchase of Shllllngford Wood
the conveyancing was put in the hands of solicitors and the
purchase was completed in February 2022.
Three public events were held in the wood during the year: A Dawn
Chorus, A Moth Hunt and A Bat Walk.
We are gathering a Ilst of volunteers to assist with the management
of the wood. Trying to encourage local resldents to become
involved In future plans.

We have continued to hold a "party in the garden" which will now
become an annual event along wlth a stall at the Christmas village
fete. These will give the charity a regular course of income.
Locals were again involved in the production and sale of the 2022
Shillingford Wood calendars and Christmas cards. Other initiatives
such as the sale of Shillingford wood sweatshirts continue.
All Trustees have regard to the guldance Issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit. Central to this is the AGM of the
charity being held at the Vlllage Hall, where the public are invited to
make comments and suggestions on the management of the
woodland.

Once the wood was purchased the reserves have been held to cover
management expenses for example insurances.
To go towards the purchase of further land near to the wood should
it become avallable.
