**The property is a Grade II listed building**
**of significant industrial importance in**
**Chesterfield and is located near to**
**excellent public transport services. This**
**will provide both a positive location as**
**well as a valuable community heritage**
**link for the works undertaken by the**
**CIO. The building is in a state of**
**considerable disrepair and the Trustees**
**consider that it will provide**
**opportunities for engaging the local**
**community on the history and heritage**
**of the building and the local area.**
**Additionally, work to restore the**
**building would provide learning and**
**skills opportunities for young people in**
**the local area – which would align with**
**the CIO’s objectives.**
**During the period, the Trustees**
**commissioned a consultant to survey**
**the structure of the building identified.**
**This survey helped to feed in to further**
**plans for making the building secure.**
**Additionally, a listed building**
**application was submitted to**
**Chesterfield Borough Council in**
**support of a temporary repair to the**
**roof, which had partially fallen in.**
**Since the building is in a state of**
**disrepair, Trustees authorised the**
**purchase of two mobile office units**
**which can be used as temporary space**
**for tenant organisations during**
**construction and renovation works. The**
**purchase of these portable buildings**
**also ensures that the CIO would be able**
**to provide space for tenant**
**organisations at a different location,**
**should the building no longer be**
**available to us. This purchase will allow**
**the CIO to deliver on its objectives**
