The CIO secured a bank account in August 2022 with Lloyds Bank. There were no transacEons through this account for the year ended 30 September 2022.
In line with its objecEves to work with other chariEes Maranatha InternaEonal has undertaken the following acEviEes throughout the past year:
Premnath Joseph travelled to India once the travel ban was lifted after the pandemic to lend a more concrete ground support. He networked with the charity Maranatha Full Gospel Association in Chennai, South India staying with them from December 2021 to March 2022, assisting, travelling and offering counsel to various groups of marginalised communities.
In December 2021, along with the help of a local church, over 100 children from the slums were invited and provided with a freshly cooked meal and a gift to take home. The parents of the children, who are low income labourers, appreciated the support and care.
In early January 2022, Premnath Joseph volunteered with MFGA to distribute food packets and bedding material to 200 homeless beggars.
During the same month Premnath Joseph visited the transgender community, which is one of the most persecuted groups in India and continues to be stigmatised. This charity works on the outskirts of Chennai City providing food and shelter to this group. Premnath Joseph spent the day with them listening to their stories and providing counsel.
Various women’s groups were visited and encouraged. A new network was formed between Maranatha International and a self help group that provides small loans for women to learn, equip and start their own businesses in areas such as tailoring, candle making and other crafts to earn money for their families. We hope to continue to build on this relationship to help them in the future.
In association with MFGA, Chennai, we have supplied provisions, medical help and basic support for well over 200 families. With the support of the local churches we hope to increase the number of families we help over the next few years.
Premnath Joseph continues to travel to India to strengthen links and relationship with the groups mentioned above and more. With our Charity status and with a bank account now set up, we hope to organise fund raising events to bring awareness to all that we do and the impact and richness it creates in people’s lives.
The trustees are conEnuing to promote the work of the Charity, compliant with the requirements of the Charity Commission and in line with current regulaEon. Making every good effort and seeking always to act rightly the trustees seek constantly to eliminate the risk of failure to achieve the CIOs objects.
