1.19|The church's charitable objects are primarily
focused on the advancement of the Christian
faith. All regular public worship is provided free of
charge in the Chapel building. Anyone may attend
worship services on most Sunday mornings and
evenings. Teaching the Christian faith provides
advancement of education to both adults and
children on Sundays via the worship services and
Sunday School, children’s club and weekly Bible
studies. In 2021/22 most activities were both in
person and also via Zoom so that during the
Covid situation more people could attend.
Children's clubs normally in person, were
changed to online, via Zoom in 2021/22.
Special events with community activities,
refreshments, providing meals, singing and
teaching, were restarted following easing of Covid
restrictions. These activities are advertised by
word of mouth and on notice boards, with flyers.
Men’s Breakfasts continued in the local Village
Inn.
Gifts of Fair Trade Real Easter Eggs were given
to the local Catcott Primary School, which contain
a booklet with the storyof Easter inside, also|
|||given to the children of Sunday School at the
Chapel.
Charitable giving was continued in 2021/22 to a
range of individuals and Christian organisations.
These provide public benefit in the relief of
poverty and humanitarian need, often for minority
groups with particular needs such as the elderly,
eg St Margaret’s Hospice in Taunton, Christmas
shoe box appeal and donations to Barnabas
Fund, Leprosy Mission and aid to Ukraine. People
in other countries, of all faiths, who are
disadvantaged, or suffering from natural disasters
and war, including churches in Ukraine, benefit
from these donations and gifts from the church.
Safeguarding training was arranged, for several
volunteers and is a benefit for all at the Chapel**.**
A holiday Bible Club was organised and run in the
Chapel during August 2022 for Primary school
age children**.**

15 for the evening services, both in person and via
Zoom. This enables many to join in worship and
benefit from Bible teaching.
All services have been both in person and via Zoom
following the Covid situation. This was a real benefit to
all who joined. Three volunteers continue to operate
the laptop and a tablet to operate Zoom and other AV
systems and this was beneficial when services have
been both in person at the Church and via Zoom.
Refreshments after morning services have continued
after Covid restrictions lifted. This was good for
encouragement and support among the congregation.
Sunday School for 6 to 8 children enables children to
have fun and learn Bible teaching and the Christian
message.
A children’s club was held most Fridays in term time.
This had to be on Zoom and was intended to resume
in person but there was not a leader able to do this.
We do have in mind to appoint a part time children’s /
community worker in the future.|
Safeguarding training was completed for volunteers with Children and some Trustees. This benefits the work with children and ensures the Chapel complies with Gov regulations. Two funeral services followed by refreshments were held at the Chapel in March and April. This provided support for grieving family and friends. 20 Real Easter Eggs with story books were given to Catcott Primary School, which encouraged the school and children to understand the message of Easter. This was also done in cooperation with the local Anglican Vicar and churches. Regular weekly prayer meetings continued for those in need. Many cards and flowers, expressing care, sympathy and concern have been sent to those with health, or other care needs. Supporting friends and families is an important part of the work of the Chapel, listening to people’s worries and problems especially those with mental health issues. Regular monthly visiting was continued by a local Christian worker and Chapel members, to homes in the surrounding Polden villages area. This aims to share the Christian message and was welcomed by many of those visited and they were given Chapel welcome leaflets and Christian booklets. The Men’s Breakfast has continued, every 2-3 months and were enjoyed and attended by 10 to 15 local men, at the Crown Inn, Catcott. This is a great encouragement to men and also supports the local Inn. **Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Coffee & Cake Morning** . Approx. 25 to 30 people attended from the local community. This was an opportunity to recognise the great value of the Queen and encourages community involvement. £100 was raised to give to Medical support in Ukraine. **A Holiday Bible Club** was held 9-11[th] August and led by Trevor Ranger and Chapel volunteers, on the theme of Game Changers. 18 children attended from the local communities. This benefits children and families in teaching and enjoying games and crafts together. A barbecue lunch was held for parents/carers and the children. 25 copies of the Scripture Union booklet, ‘Your Move’, was given to the Year 6 school leavers at Catcott
school. This helps and supports children moving to secondary school. Harvest produce was donated by church attendees and taken to St Margaret’s Hospice in Taunton. In addition, a gift of £200 was given to help the work of care at the hospice. £420 was donated to Barnabas Fund in October, to help people in other countries with a range of difficulties. £800 was given to support churches in Ukraine for humanitarian aid. These are two examples of the £10212 given to various Missions to support individuals and mission organisations both overseas and in the UK. Professor Stuart Burgess from Bristol University, came to speak at the Chapel about Design in Creation and his Olympic Bike on Saturday 8[th] October. Pizzas and cakes were provided for 45 people who attended. Wed 2[nd] November a Creation Ministries International speaker, Gavin Cox, came to talk on Biology & the Bible : Evolution or Creation? Both were good for teaching, information and community fellowship. 27 Christmas shoe boxes were sent to Blythswood, a UK charity. This was a Chapel and community project which encourages local people and helps and supports disadvantaged people in Eastern Europe. Christmas invite / welcome leaflets were produced and distributed in the villages and also 200 special Christmas supplements with the invites. This is to inform, invite and encourage an interest in the Christian faith in the community. The Polish families from the Chapel organised a Christmas Eve meal / party for 35 people in the Chapel. This gives support for the Polish community. Maintenance of the chapel buildings and grounds continued. Window closures in side hall were replaced and outside windows fixed with putty. Gutters cleaned. Back kitchen porch leaking and fixed. PAT testing of electrical items was completed. This ensured the buildings were in a good state for use of the congregation and community.

The Trustees present their Report for the year ended 31 December 2022 which should be read in conjunction with the attached Financial Statement for the year.
## LEGAL STATUS
The charity is registered in England and Wales under the charity number 1192447
## OBJECT, POLICIES AND ORGANIZATION
## The main objectives are:-
To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the statement of beliefs as declared by the Trustees on formation of the charity.
To relieve persons who are in conditions of need or hardship or who are aged or sick and to relieve the distress caused thereby in the said locations and in such other parts of Europe and the world as the Trustees may from time to time think fit.
Donations are made nationwide and every effort is made to raise and maintain an influx of monies.
The Annual General Meeting is usually held in March each year.
## REVIEW OF THE YEAR
The charity has received donations which have been used together with funds brought forward in furtherance of the Charity's object.
## Finance:-
The attached Financial Statement shows the current state of finances which the committee consider satisfactory.
The excess of income over expenditure for the year amounted to £2,275. This has increased the unrestricted general fund and restricted funds which now stand in total at £11,629.
The Bankers are National Westminster Bank Plc at Bridgwater.
## RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for keeping proper accounting records which disclose the financial position of the Charity. The Trustees have elected to prepare financial statements on the cash accounting basis.

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2022, which are set out on pages 4 to 5.
## **Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner**
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirement of Section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention
## **Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(i) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 41 of the Act: and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act
have not been met; or
(ii) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
