**benefit)**|Friends of Bournville Park exists for the benefit of the inhabitants of
Bournville and the surrounding area (“the area of benefit”). It aims to
provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other
leisure activities. We make all our events free in order to make them
accessible to all members of the community. By providing activities and
equipment to help users design their own activities, we aim to improve
the fitness and wellbeing, both for local residents and the wider
community. The preservation, promotion, support, assistance and
improvement of Bournville Parkis at the heart of everything we do.|

citizenship and Duke of Edinburgh awards
3. Park improvement
Repairs to tennis court after damage from storm damage which
rendered the court unusable.
Planting of a second Memory Tree funded by the family of a man
who lived near the park
4. Promotion
Social media presence maintained and regular newsletter for
members
Noticeboard at one entrance updated regularly. Two new noticeboards.
Regular entries in school newsletters with events promoted.
Local homes leafleted with information about out summer picnic.
In planning and undertaking all of these activities the Trustees have had
regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public
benefit, and all have been undertaken to further the public benefit
objectives of the charity.|

Although the Trustees are very active, the charity is also supported by volunteers, for example in litter picking, removing Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the brook, bulb planting, and supporting the Summer Event. Also, Park users report their concerns to FOBP and the Council e.g. about Himalayan Balsam.
Tennis for Free sessions have been supported by volunteers throughout the year.
Volunteering is always encouraged.
In consultation with park users, we decide what events we would like to run in the coming year and find the most appropriate source of funding with places such as Get Grants and Birmingham Open Spaces Forum

Section D Achievements and performance 1. Support for leisure activities **Summary of the main** From March to December 2025 we ran Sunday morning sessions **achievements of the charity** under the Tennis for Free Programme, supported by coaches **during the year** from Weoley Hill Tennis Club (one a Trustee), another LTAtrained Trustee, and our volunteers. Over the whole period, we had approximately 650 people attend these sessions. Weekly Tai Chi sessions take place in the Park, with a total of 450 attendees over the year. The charity ran a one week Summer Event in August with activities including cycling training, multi-sports including football, extra tennis coaching sessions. A summer ‘picnic’ was very successful, helped by the weather being much better than last year, with 296 ducks taking part in our centrepiece duck race. We had tennis tournaments, a variety of other sports to try, and treasure hunts and word searches. Over £300 was raised for the charity which has been reinvested in buying more outdoor play equipment 2. Education Using existing funding, Forest School sessions continue. There were 9 community sessions funded by the charity. We have applied for funding to allow these To secure the future of Forest School we have applied for funding to last for the next 2 years,. Grants from Awards for All and Heart of England were used for Tai Chi, multisports during the school holidays and the Summer Event. 3. Park improvement The Friends had to push the council to repair the damaged tennis court and also make an old building safe which was vandalised. The tennis courts continue to be well used. The donation of the memory tree in 2024 had led to 2 more being financed. One was planted in November 2025 and one due to be planted in 2026. We are promoting these further with the hope that more people will consider donating trees as a way of remembering a loved one. 4. Promotion Social media presence has been maintained and is heavily used. A newsletter is issued to members of the charity after each Trustees’ meeting. It describes recent actions and decisions, and provides insights into the thinking of the trustees, Both of the trustees coopted during the year are well known within the Bournville community and are able to use their presence to promote our causes. One works at the local school, the other owns a nearby shop. These activities meet the objectives of the charity.

The charity’s principal sources of funds are grants and awards. Regular financial support is provided by Birmingham Open Spaces Forum. Expenditure on each grant is always in support of the objects of the charity. Payments are not made to trustees or volunteers.
