Donatlons to Schools 1. Donation of school to Bright Star Primary and Secondary, Gambia The Trustees collected 50 pairs of shoes,. 200 clothes., 35 children books and toys,. 20 bags in 2023124 final year. The items where donated to primary and secondary Schools in Gambia. The items where shipped from the UK and collected by a volunteer in Gambia. He took the items to the school in Gambia and handed them lo the School Principals. The Principals and staff distributed the shoes among the school children. Below is selection of some of the pupil with Iheir new shoes.
Lll Challen es and Recommendations: As most charitable organizalions, LSS UK Foundation is mainly relianl on donations from individuals and other charitable organizalions in pursuant of its charitable goals. Therefore, expanding and sustaining ils development activities is a huge challenge. To deliver on il's purpose the organizalion continues to need time and resources which are better supported by thé availability of funds. The Association should therefore explore alternative ways of generating funds. It should start by opening bank account. The Statement of Financial Activities shows LSS UK Foundation income from all sources and how this was expended, and the splst of aclivity betW88n restricted and unrestricted funds. The charity's income was £100 for the year ended 20th Nov 2024. The charity was able to operate without the need for funds from the charity ttself to up to now. The Trustees use their time and that of the donations of shS frorr the public to deliver the purpose of the charity. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Constitution and Organisational Structure: The organisation is a charity incorporated organisatTron. It was registered as a Gharity on 20 November 2020. LSS UK Foundation was established by Memorandum and Articles of Association which describes the objects and powers of the charitable company,. it is governed under ils Articles of Association. Under those Articles. the trustees are appointed at the Annual Gener81 Meeting. Trustee have ultlmale responsibility for the running of the charity. The Trustee rely on the time and resource of volunte6ts to assist in the delivering of the purpose of the charity. Thère are no employees of the charity. Governance and Decision-making: ThÉ Board of Trustees govem LSS UK Foundation and meet quarterly to discuss and review strategy, planning, development, and financial matters. Day-to4ay management of the organisation also rest wth the trustees. Every three years, a strategic r6view is undertaken, involving trustees. stsff, funders. partners. beneficiaries and other sLqkeholders. Recruitment and Appolntmant of Now Trustoes: The trustees are eleGted according to their knowledge, skill and experience of the themes and activiti8s undertak8n by the charity. commitment to LSS UK Foundation mission, objectives and activities,. and in accordance wth the requirements for th& govemance of charities. LSS UK Foundation provides information and updates about operations lo the members. Board and relevant committee meetings consider and discuss matters relating to the strategic direction and focus of the charity. Induction and Training of new Trustees:
New trustees reGeive InduGtion training on: their legal responsibilities as charity trustees., the management and operational structure of the chartiy. and the key management issues, e.g. policy, personnel, finance. projects and funding matters. They are also guided on how to have optimum input and influeno in the current and future development of the charity. Risk Management: The trustees have a duty to identtty and rewew the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error. STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES The trustees, for the purposes of company law, are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and th8 financial stat8m8nts in accordanc8 Wth applicable law and Unit8d Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Acrnunting Practice). Company law requires the truste85 to prepare financial statements for each financial year thich give a tru8 and fair view of th& stat8 of affairs of the charitsble rnpanY and of the incoming resources and application of resourGes, indLKling the income a1 expenditure, of the charitsble for that year. In preparing thes& finanal statemènts, th8 trustees are required lo= Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently, Observe the rnethods and principles in the Charities SORP., Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. Prèpare the financial statemènts on the going tt)ncern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charitabl6 company wll continue in business The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable a¢Guracy al any tima of the financial position of the Gharilable company and enable them to ensure that the financial ststements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also rest)onsiblé for safeguarding the assets of the Charitable company and hen¢e for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
