## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|2023: Strengthening Our Foundation
and Team
2024 has been a pivotal year for United
in Design, focused on strengthening our
charity from the inside out. Recognising
the critical need for robust leadership
and operational capacity, we conducted
a Trustee strategy session and
successfully recruited an Executive
Director in the last quarter of 2023 with
the expertise and vision to deliver on
our strategic goals. Central to this
process was acquiring in-house talent
and skills to enhance programme
delivery, operational efficiency, and
organisational impact.
Internal Restructuring and Operational
Excellence
From an operational perspective, we
conducted a comprehensive in-house
audit to identify gaps and areas for
improvement. This review led to the
implementation of key enhancements in
internal policy, consolidation of
programming, governance, and
infrastructure. We integrated essential
software to streamline operations,
strengthened fundraising focus and
sponsorship efforts to secure
sustainable resources, and redesigned
our programmes to enable scalable
delivery and measurable impact. In
parallel, we established urgently
needed legal and governance
structures, ensuring compliance and
building a resilient foundation for
long-term growth.|

These internal improvements have positioned United in Design to achieve ambitious operational milestones, creating a framework that supports sustainable growth, enhances accountability, and allows us to scale our mission with confidence. Without this investment in our internal systems, our projections for 2025 growth would not have been achievable. Programme Consolidation from Seven to three Core programmes: 1) Career Pathway: Focus - Scale Cohort Five Our strategic focus for 2025 is centred on expanding opportunities for underrepresented talent in the interior design industry. With Cohort Five of our internship programme, we aim to increase intern participation by 150%, in 2025. We have developed new policies and processes to improve recruitment, retention, and participant experience, alongside software enhancements to streamline administration and scale opportunity. The internship learning journey has been redesigned to ensure structured development, mentorship, and measurable outcomes for all participants. 2) Education and Outreach (E&O): Focus - Scale Outreach. Our Education & Outreach initiative continues to inspire and empower students from minority backgrounds, bridging the gap between education and careers in interior design. Through career fairs, workshops, and guest lectures, we provide practical advice, industry insights, and networking opportunities. In 2025, we plan to increase engagements from one in 2024 to a minimum of 12 engagements, including a partnership with KLC School of Design to deliver four full-day workshops, up from one per year historically. These activities aim to demystify career pathways and highlight the diverse opportunities within the interior design ecosystem.
