Woolwell In Bloom Annual Report
AGM Held on 15 November 2024
Bickleigh Parish Council submitted a letter of support for the multi user path.
The two Christmas fairs raised £760.15.
Judging for July the theme is celebrations and friendship. The RHS is 60 Years old for its Britain in Bloom competition and its 40 Years since the first residents moved into Woolwell. Idea for celebration display using pallets filled with sedums.
Blooms insurance increased by £5 on last year’s figures.
Hornbeam hedge was planted at the boarder of the centre’s car park.
4 Bloomers attended the RHS seminar.
Paid the parish council our annual peppercorn rent of £1.
Bloom and myself were nominated for the first South Hams district community awards.
Woolwell day was booked for the 15 June. Treasure hunt on Woolwell day was well attended by residents and raised £181.
Judging day was a real success with the sheep characters accompanying the judges on-route along with Jo the editor from Plymlinks.
Asked Sound Site Services for a new quote for the multi user path. The group agreed the cost and now waiting for the work to be done. Our grand opening of the path took place on 26 October with wild flower seeds scattered and bulbs planted.
Successful with the £250 POP lottery on the third attempt. We also held Plymouth Green Spaces event on 18 September.
At the SW in Bloom awards we gained Gold for our entry, plus we won best village in Devon category and also Level 5 outstanding for our celebration displays and after school club work.
We held a collection tin event at our local Tescos raising £292.40 and they also donated gifts for our Christmas raffle.
We held Three remembrance services this year with over 150 resident, cubs and brownies attending.
