Activities - how the charity spends its money
Ceylon Cricket Foundation helps with provision of facilities, accessories and equipment and coaching programmes in the local community to support the dreams of underprivileged Children in Sri Lanka. This will enable these young Sri Lankan cricketers to turn their dreams into reality; finding those hidden talents and giving them the chance to play, prosper in the game they love.

Review of activities
As a foundation we do a variety of activities to raise awareness of what we do, and variety of ways of fundraising. Below are a range of activities and fundraising we did during the 2024 period in accordance with our charity objectives and activities…
Projects
As a foundation we do a number of projects, please find below…
Kit Donations
Kit Donations happen on an individual, school and club bases where they donate their old equipment to the charity, in which we then ship across to Sri Lanka and distribute to schools around the island. This is one of our main activities which allows us to help as many schools in Sri Lanka as possible.
Just to name a few of our kind donors - Harrogate CC, Terrington Hall Prep School, Clifton Alliance CC and The Fotherby Family.
We also have professional cricketers that kindly donate their unused cricket equipment, such as one of our ambassadors Lauren Winfield-Hill donate.
Coaching Programme
The foundations coaching programme is about sending coaches from the UK and potentially other countries to Sri Lanka, they volunteer in schools around the island sharing their knowledge and experience. The school then in return look after the coaches by organising accommodation, activities, & food.
2024 saw Caspar & Alex travel out Sri Lanka and visit a variety of our schools – including Sri Parakrama National School, Kobeigane. The boys spent over three weeks supporting a variety of schools and academy’s. During their time in Sri Lanka, they donated cricket equipment (kindly donated by Uppingham School) to a brand new school, Mirihanegama School.
Batting Partnership
This is an idea that was developed in previous years before covid. This is something we are looking to develop further in 2025.
Fundraising
As a foundation we do a variety of fundraising to help raise funds, with our most expensive expenditure being the shipment of equipment to Sri Lanka. This year has seen us do a variety of different fundraisers…
Curry Nights
Curry nights are very popular. We go into cricket clubs and bring a taste of Sri Lanka with a variety of rice’s, curries and short eats. We hold raffles on the night with a variety of prizes. This year saw us hold one event at Heworth CC on Saturday 1[st] June 2024

Volunteers & Trustees
From September 2024, our trustees changed as Tharindu Perera, Rakhitha Wijayasiri, Roland Amunugama and Isuru Jayakody decided to step aside from the foundation. As a foundation we wish to thank Tharindu, Rakhitha, Roland and Isuru for their fantastic work for the foundation and helping build it to what it is today, and wish them best of luck for the future.
Haydon Jackson, who was one of our volunteers for more than 5 years has stepped up as the Chairman and trustee of the foundation. Katy Hen-Boisen, who has also supported the foundation for a number of years as a volunteer in a variety of roles has stepped up as treasurer and trustee. We are searching for another trustee to join the foundation.
Our Finances
Nothing much has been done during this current year due to the changes in Trustee’s and we have been working hard to get all the legal documents and bank account back up and running for the charity so we only had the one curry night to raise funds. Once everything is back on tract we can get into fundraising and sending the cricket kit we have so collected over the last few years.

Following a development meeting between the trustees, we came up with a variety of development plans for the upcoming year for the foundation…

Confirming our 3[rd] trustee to join the foundation

To open a new bank account

To build a new committee with new volunteers to help manage the variety of positions in the foundation (including a contact in Sri Lanka)

To find a base in Sri Lanka, for when we ship equipment across it can be stored safely before we hold our Kit Donation events.

Send a shipment of equipment out to Sri Lanka

From end of June to have our social media & website back up & running

To use the database we’ve build of schools around Sri Lanka and create a positive relationship between the foundation and school

After we’ve donated or conducted coaching programme with the schools, have monthly check ins to see how they are progressing with their cricket

31[st] The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended December 2024 . The board of trustees are satisfied with the performance of the charity during the year and position on 31[st] December 2024 and consider that the charity is in a strong position to continue its objectives during the coming year, and that the charity assets are adequate to fulfil its obligations.

Statements of the trustees for the year ended 31[st] December 2024 .
The charities Act require the Board of Trustees to prepare financial statements for each year which gives a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity as at the end of the financial year and of the surplus or deficit of the charity. In preparing those financial statements the Board is required to:

make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and

prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.

state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;
The trustees are also responsible for maintaining adequate accounting records, disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and which are sufficient to show and explain the charity's transaction.
They are responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities that, on the face of the report there are no inconsistencies with the figures disclosed in the report.

1. Accounting basis
The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
