As a Charitable Instituted Organisation ICIOI we are governed by a constitution. Trustees are appointed by
existing trustees. New Trustees are approached depending on the skill base requirements of the charity and
the experience of the individual. An informal process of interviews tske place before any appointment is put
to the current Trustees and ratified. New Trustees are expected to familiarise the￿selveS Wlth the charity
and the context within which it operates. They are also required to read the Charity Commission publication
'The Essential Trustee- What you need to know,. All trustees are also required to complete safeguardirg
training. The Trustees are aware of the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Introduction from the Chair
ACTS exists to inspire a generation of children, young-people and their families to engage
with the Christian Faith and to explore its values! ACTS does this by providing activities that
educate children in the Christian faith, and offering opportunities for schools and church
to relate together. Currently, we offer this in the Th3net Primary Schools through our one
Schools-workerbutour hope has always been to see the team grow, so we can increase what
we offer to Primary Schools and begin to reach out to secondary schools as well. Towards
the end of 2023 theTrustees felt that now was the time to begin exploring what a Secondary
Schools work project may look like.
Charitable Objectives
The purpose of ACTS is To advance the Christian Faith through supporting the spiritual,
moral, social and cultural development of children, young people, their families, and those
workingwith them, in schools and groups, and in conjunction with the churches in the area
of Thanet for the public benefit."
What we do
ACTS aims to work with all Primary schools in Thanet, by offering activities that increase
awareness and understanding of the Christian faith, explain how Christians practise their
faith and help children, young people, their families and those working with them explore
further links with schools and churchesand the communities in which they are in. We do this
through:

Acts
The work is carried out by an employed part-time workerwho works for 0.8 of theweek, and
who links in with church leaders and volunteers that assist in enabling the programmes to
run. The work is overseen by a Board of Trustees who bring a variety of skills to support and
encourage the work in schools and to assist it to operate efficiently and effectively.
Apartfrom our I member of staff, ACTS relies totally on volunteers- these include members
of churches from all around Thanet.
A￿s is a Local Mission Partner of Scripture Union, and Our Schools Development Worker is
a member of Kent SACRE {Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education}.
A￿s became a registered charity in November 2020 and this is our 3, annual report of the
Trustees. The following update continues the story of how the work has developed:
2023
2023 was seen as a year to build on the good foundation of strong relationships with local
Primary schools and churches. Early in 2023 ACTS received some publicity in the local news
through its part in helping a local school achieve 'The WireAward'from Kent SACRE (Standing
Advisory Cou ncil on Religious Education), for increasing enrichment opportunities linked to
religious education. However, alongside the schools-workopportunities wewere aware that
ourguarantorwas reducingtheir financial input and so, duringthe firstfew months of 2023,
we needed to invest more time in creating a sustainable model for our finances. Following
quite an intense time for our schools-worker, visiting local churches and groups, we
celebrated a complete change in our financial picture by the end of June. This saw our
financial support base widen and enabled us to begin thinking towards what ACTS may look
like in thefuture.
See below, the activities that ACTS has been involved in during 2023, remembering that
whilst the figures show the overall picture of the work in schools, it doesn't give an insight
into the impact on each individual child who experiences the assembly, or workshop, or
prayer space. From time-to-time we receive feedback from moments that have impacted a
young life and for that we are grateful.
Our Year 6 programme continues to be well received:
Easter Cracked - 6 schools1600 children) and 6 churches.
Transition Workshop for Year 6, 'It's Your Move,, with 5 schools1450 children}.
Christmas Unwrapped- 14 schools1900 children) and 9 churches.

We also continued to provide-
RE Workshops.
Assemblies.
Prayer Spaces.
Annual Resources list for R.E. & Collective Worship/Assemblies.
Reflection and Well-Being Spaces for Staff Inset Days in school.
We continue to enjoy being a mission partner with Scripture Union, which provides
governance support as well as resources for work with children and young people.
Towardsthe end of 2023 we made space tothink about how A￿5 needs to develop overthe
coming year5. We produced a strategy document looking at the next 1, 3 and 5 years which
includes exploring what a Secondary Schools work projectcould look like and how Acts can
expand its work in Primary Schoolsthrough facilitating more volunteers. We look forward to
seeing how Acfs develops over the coming year5,

Review of Financiol situation
Through 2023 Acts focused on increasing its income by securing regular donations from
individuals, churches and schools. ACTS was also successful in winning some grants whith
have helped improve the charity's financial situation. During 2023 Acfs became financiallv
independent.
Reserves
ACTS has a reserves policy and holds 3 months of all salaries and regular costs in reserve.
Acfs holds a designated fund of £12000 associated to future projects of the charity.
Going Concern
Acts is in a strong position with a strong income stream and reserves.
Funding
Funds are generated through Mission Funding, Public Donations, Fund Raising, Sales and gift
aid is claimed where applicable.
Unrestricted funds are available for use atthe discretion of the trustees to further any of the
charity's purposes.
Restricted fundsare subjected to restrictions on their expenditure declared by the donor or
through the terms of a grant.
Investments
The charity has not made any investments and does not intend to during the next financial
year.
Principal Risks
The charity's main risk is that most of its income comes from donations and it needs to
continually seek new donors to ensure it remains financially viable.
