The charity trustees manage the affairs of the CIO and may for that purpose
exercise all the powers of the CIO. New Trust￿ are appointed by the current
Trustee Board at a m￿ting of the Trustees. In selecting indivlduals for appointment
as charity Trustees, the current charity Trustees have regard to the skills, knowledge
and experience needed for the effective adminisb7tion of the charty.

member and charity trustee WEN) to be a charlty trustee automatlcally ceases
to be a member of the CIO.
Any person who retires as a charity Trustee is eligible for reappointment.
The Constitution strates that there must be at least 3 charity Trustees and the
maximum number of thaFIty Trustees is 15.

New Trustees undergo an induttion. The induction includes a discussion about the
role and responsibilities of Trustees, the activities, aims arNJ objectives of the charity,
the structure of the organisation, trf)ard of Twstees, general procedures of the
organ￿atIOn. New Trustees are provided with the Chaiity Commissions 'Ro￿5 and
Responsibilities of Trustees., the Conststution, and the latest statutory Trustees
Annual Report and finanaal ststements.

Foundation structure. This mears that the onty voting members are the Charity
Trustees.
The board of Trustees have overall responsibility for the Charity. Trustees are aware
that any conflitt of interest is declared arnl minuted. The l)oard holds meetings at
least 4 times per year.
In the event the CIO is wound up, the members of the CIO have no liability to
CO[￿1bute to its assets and no personal responsibility for settfing its debts and
liabilities.

The major risks, to which the charity is ex[￿d, as identlfied by the Trustees, have
been reviewed and systems have been established to mitigate those risks. All
systems and procedures are revtewed regularly to ensure they meet tharity law and
our own organisations aims and objeclives.

Objectives and Activities
Pocklingtr)n Distrftt Heritsge Trust objects are:
The advancement of education, knowledge and understanding for all ages of
the heritsge of Pocklington and its hinterland, and associated actlvitles for
the benefit of the communlty.
The advancement of research of heritage assets for the promotion of
conserving heritage assets.
The establishment and maintenance of a museum or collections for the
benefit of the public and protection of heritage assets.

The Trust continues discussions regarding museum premises without having been
able to progress this to a conclusion. ￿ndIng suitable premises remains a major
objeclive of the Trust. The Trust has developed its initiatives regarding conseNation
of heritage assets, including in co-operation with East Riding of Yorkshire Counril's
Museum Servi￿. and continued to advan￿ public education through research,
publishingi sharing disseminating information.
The trijstees confimi that they have complied with the duty, contsineAI in Settion 17
of the Charities Act 2011, to have due regard to guidance on public benefrt Issued
by the Charity Q)mmission. The charltable purFrf)se of the charity within the meaning
of the att is contained within its objectives stated above.

In developing our obiettives and activilies for the COMI￿ year, the Tnjstees have
considered the tharity Commission's guidan￿ on public benefit.
The main objecbves for 2024-25 are:
To continue delivering community acbvitles and events to all ages. Spearheading this
will be our new UK Government SPF supported Trdllstx)rLable Museurn, display
which will be taken out to schools and groups auoss the district.
To continue liaising with Pocklington Town Council and other parties regarding
developing Burnby Hall as a community facilty and creating an independent
museum within It. When the museum Spa￿ arrangement is finalised we will
Commen￿ funding and museum creation initiatives, and develop our collection
management and business planning.

The P(Kklington Distritt Heritage Trust tM)ard of Trust￿ is satisfied that in 2023124.
Our work reflected our aims.
Our reSoUr￿S were well managed.
During the accounting perlod there have no changes to the Trust members or
strutture. Our tK)licies We￿ revrewed, arKI V￿ adopted a rdnge of policies and
financial prffedures based on museum and NCVO best practi￿. We expanded the
Secure storage of our records and assets. We registered the Trust for gift aid with
HMRC.
The Trust continued to Inform and SUp￿rt Pocklington Town Council's (Frc)
application to East Riding of Yorkshire CouThil (ERYC) on the Community Asset
Transfer of Bumby Hall. ERYC'S cabinet agreed to the transfer in April 2024, with
PTC subsequently creating PcM*lington Community Trust CIO to refurbish and
manage the building. We have liaised wtth the Community Tnjst regarding our
museum vision, including holding Initial disLussions with the refurbishment
archit*.
In 2023-24 the Trust further developed its initiatives and knowlec%3e regarding
conservation of heritsge assets, including attending training courses and meetings
with Museum Development North.
Duriry the year the Trust was successftjl in gaining a UK Government Shared
Prosperity Fund grant, supported by Matched funding from the Trust and individual
Trustees, for a project tr'tled 'Pocklington's Ancient Heritage - Towards a Permanent
Museum,, The Trust has worked extensively wtth heritage consultants to develop the
project reacty to be rolled out in 2024-25.
We have advanced our relationships with finders and collectors of lo￿1 artefacts,
and continue to identify and record items in our digrtal arthive. We have added
items to our collettions in keeping with our collectton strategy.

Statement of Twstee's responsibilities
Chaiity law requires the trust￿ to prepare financial stratements for each financial
year which give a true picture of the transactions that have occurred in relation to
the charity. The charity have prepared their accounts on the Receipts and Payments
basls which Is an aC￿ptsble fomiat for a non-company charty with an income below
£250,OCM).
The trustees are responsible for kttping proper accounting records which disclose
with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to
enable them to ensure that the financial statsments compty with the Charities Att
2011. TtrEy are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and
hen￿ for tsking reasonable steps for the prevention and detettion of frdud and
other irregularities.
