Section D Achievements and performance
As a Charity, Poverty Pound hopes to not only reach out to those Summary of the main living below the poverty line or homeless but also the important achievements of the charity element of raising awareness of the issues we are faced with. during the year Sadly, with the current economic climate and uncertainty, many are faced with uncertain times ahead. With the donations received throughout, we were able to distribute food hampers and winter packs. One of the key highlights was in December 2023 when an organisation decided to use the initiative it has called ‘A Day to Make Difference’ and support Poverty Pound. The day is used for employees of the organisation to volunteer through charitable projects.
A trustee of Poverty Pound overlooked this and ensured that the staff were aware of our charity and planned what they would be doing. We ensured that a letter was received prior from the Senior Manager before agreeing to this being undertaken.
The team sourced food items so that hampers could be produced as well as items for winter packs. Staff within the organisation kindly donated funds towards the charity which helped when sourcing items.
Once all items were sourced and the staff packed them, we then distributed these in London along with winter packs which comprised of gloves, scarves, blankets, sockets, sleeping bags etc. We partnered up with other smaller charities and distributed these in December in Charing Cross, London. It was good to work alongside other Charities to ensure maximum support and to ensure items and efforts were not duplicated.
