||At the forefront of our planning was the importance of public benefit and
helping reach out to those that need our support.
The tagline and our USP is: Unite. Support. Provide. The message is
simple and clear that we should all unite to help tackle poverty in society.
The support and donations will help us achieve our objectives and reach
out and aid more people that need help. We will be able to provide support
and improve the lives of others.
Due to the pandemic, we were unable to carry out public fundraising
events, so instead like many others, we focused our efforts on online
fundraising events. During the tough period, we found this to be useful and
beneficial for people to come together and be more positive. It helped us
to raise awareness of the new charity and raise donations for the cause.
With the funds raised, we were able to provide food hampers to families in
the local community. The families were referred based on their financial
backgrounds, needs and circumstances. We always prepared winter
packs and these were distributed in London.
Volunteers undertook DBS checks and supported our efforts in preparing
and distributing the packs prepared.
Throughout, we would source the items ourselves, collate, pack and
distribute.|

## Section D Achievements and performance
As a Charity, Poverty Pound hopes to not only reach out to those **Summary of the main** living below the poverty line or homeless but also the important **achievements of the charity** element of raising awareness of the issues we are faced with. **during the year** Sadly, with the current economic climate and uncertainty, many are faced with uncertain times ahead. With the generous donations received throughout, we were able to distribute food hampers to the local community. Towards the end of 2021 we did a 5 day challenge – Live Below The Line and we had people taking part in this challenge. The concept was simple – to try and live on a budget of £1 per day for 5 days. Collectively we raised just under £400. The focus of this challenge was to help support towards our winter campaign which we undertook in earlier 2022. We reached out to businesses to source items such as gloves, scarves, hats, bags etc. Many businesses kindly offered discounts towards the purchases and in some cases e.g. Argos they generously donated several sleeping bags and duvets free of charge. Numerous Co-op stores were also very supportive and allowed us to fill a basket full of food items or to a specific value amount and these items went towards the food hampers we prepared and distributed locally. In all, we prepared over 150 winter bags. We worked alongside another Charity to compliment their efforts and distributed the packs in London during winter. The other Charity was distributing food items and Poverty Pound had the winter packs. Locally we distributed over 65 food hampers to the families who were referred and struggling / living below the poverty lines. One of our main achievements was to design a referral form whereby it allows individuals to select the specific food items they would like. Having spoken to organisation in the local community, it became apparent that most services offered the same food hampers to all. Our process allows individuals/families to select according to their needs and we source the items accordingly. It was also great to see volunteers supporting our efforts and having completed DBS checks, helped in preparing and distributing the winter packs and food hampers.
