Molly Cawthorn (MC) and David McCarthy (DM) have now moved on due to personal demands and involvements drawing on their time. We are very grateful for their work in helping register the charity with the Charity Commission and opening the Wise bank account.
During the pandemic it was difficult for Samuel Sesay (SS) to return to Sierra Leone so his more recent return enabled him to see the progress of the construction of the Enterprise Academies (EA) training building in Kafogo, Northern Territory. We’re hoping that the building will be completed and opened before the end of the year and that the young people and others in the local community can commence training and preparing sustainable enterprise initiatives.

Samuel has been funding most of the building construction so it would be helpful if we could provide more to help complete and open the building this year. Personal funds have been used so far but we need to raise funds from other sources in future. This will host a secure store room, a small shop counter to sell local produce/products and a training room with training benches and power points. Power will be supplied by a small generator. We hope also to send some sewing machines shortly. The IT hardware and other resources will be moved in from storage in Freetown when the secure store room is ready.
Once completed the building will be publicly commissioned and opened by at least one of the EAI trustees and government officials including Chief Saio Sesay.
Although the pandemic period had delayed the progress of our pilot project in Sierra Leone, progress is again being made and we hope to attract more funds this year onwards. David Edgecumbe (DE) is exploring Crowd funding where other team members and their networks can be invited to support the work in Kafogo. More details will follow.
DE is also seeking additional trustees and team members to help develop the work both in Sierra Leone and in other developing nations in future.
Howard Lunt (HL) has been invited to further network and raise the profile of EAI in Europe through his broad connections and affiliations.
DE expressed his thanks and gratitude to the current trustees and again for the great help MC and DM in their voluntary service to EAI at such a key formative time.
