benefit, to advance education amongst
children and young people in India and the
United Kingdom, primarily but not
exclusively, by making grants to charities
and individuals.
Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an
application of the property of the CIO for the
purposes which are not charitable in
accordance with section 7 of the Charities
and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005
and section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern
Ireland) 2008.|

**9.3 Number of charity trustees**

**the charity trustees, or appoint a new**
**charity trustee.**
**9.4 First charity trustees**
**The first charity trustees of the CIO are:**|
**Doctor Ramandeep Singh Dargan and Doctor Jasmine Kaur Dargan (a) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. (b) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.**
