Type of governing document The original Charity Constitution was adopted on 24 August 2012 as (eg. trust deed, constitution) amended 05 January 2018. A new constitution dated 12 November 2019 has been lodged with the commission and was approved by the members at the AGM of 20 November 2021. A plan of action has been put in place to transition from the old to the new constitution during 2022/2023. The Board of Trustees meet regularly and operate a Risk Register to fully understand and mitigate risk. This along with the appropriate policies and procedures ensure we follow the good practice to run your charity effectively, avoid difficulties and comply with your legal duties. - relationship with any related parties; - trustees’ consideration of major risks and the system and procedures to manage them. **TAR** March **2012** 2 ## **Section C Objectives and activities** To preserve and protect life and in particular to provide and maintain and emergency search and rescue service for the benefit of the public: **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** - (1) by the provision of a dedicated and trained volunteer service to assist the emergency services in the operation of search and rescue within London; and - (2) by the provision of support to other search and rescue organisations across the UK if called upon and able to do so. **TAR** March **2012** 3 OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES The primary objective of the charity is to protect and preserve good health and life by the provision of volunteer search and rescue teams to assist organisations involved in the search and/or rescue of missing or vulnerable persons. The secondary objective is the provision of programs to help prevent the need of search and rescue teams by means of education of the public. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** The charity activities assist in the relief of suffering and distress amongst persons endangered by accidents or natural hazards within London, particularly by providing adequate arrangements for the secure and efficient search and rescue of any person or persons so endangered.
