TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT FOR YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 30 2021

OBJECTIVES
The West Hendred Village Hall CIO (TWHVH) runs a village hall for the benefit of the inhabitants of West Hendred and its neighbourhood. We offer facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation for individuals and group, of all ages, and for the public at large, with the object of improving conditions of life for everyone involved.
ACTIVITIES IN THE YEAR
The West Hendred Village Hall’s conversion from the West Hendred Village Hall charity (registered in 1962) to a CIO was confirmed by the Charities Commission on November 6 2020. The two plots of land, the Hall itself and the adjacent car park, were transferred and registered to the CIO and the old charity, West Hendred Village Hall, was deregistered all in in the year after September 30[th] 2021.
Throughout the year October 1 2020 to September 30 2021, the Hall’s committee and its users adhered to the ACRE guidance on Covid restrictions and safety precautions. When these permitted, the Hall continued to host regular activities including Yoga classes, Pilates classes, Puppy training, Toddlers group, the Springline choir practices and the local Stitchers group. In addition, again when restrictions permitted, local residents used the Hall for children’s parties, adult birthdays and wedding receptions. West Hendred’s hugely popular annual Beer Festival had to move its dates from June to 3-4 September, but once again attracted large numbers to sample a wide range of craft beers and ciders, with food tents and children’s activities in the car park as well as in the next-door parish council play park. The planned Jazz in the Village evening and the QI Quiz and Curry Supper had to be moved from the year under review to November 2021 and March 2022 respectively.
The Hall’s activities and facilities are advertised in the monthly village newsletter as well as on the Hall’s Facebook page. One-off fund-raising events are promoted in both the West Hendred and two adjacent village newsletters and through hand-delivered flyers. A programme of promotion on local platforms for hiring the Hall for community and private events is to be undertaken in the current year.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Auditor’s report attached; approved by the TWHVH committee at its meeting on 24 February 2022.
In the period 6 November 2020 to 30 September 2021, the Hall’s letting income, severely reduced by Covid restrictions, totalled £385.00. Cash transferred from the old charity account to the new CIO account totalled £1558.00, leaving a credit balance of £1943.00. The closure of the old charity bank account with the Co-operative Bank was delayed by staff absences due to Covid and took place after
September 30 2021, with the transfer of all remaining funds of the old charity to the CIO bank account with TSB.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The WHVH AGM, open to all residents of the village, was held on 12 July 2022. It was advertised for over 28 days preceding the meeting on the front door of the Village Hall, in the Hall’s external noticeboard and in the monthly village newsletter distributed to all houses in the village.

Membership of the committee, including trusteeship, is open to all village residents and widely encouraged in the advertisement of the AGM as well as verbally amongst villagers.
