Ansty Community Sports Club (ACSC) was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in November 2020. The purpose of the ACSC is to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of cricket and football. The ACSC will do this by assuming responsibility for the activities of Ansty Cricket Club and Ansty Football Club previously carried out by Ansty Sports and Social Club (ASSC), a members’ club. In addition to the continuation of the sports clubs, the ACSC will also promote diversity and inclusion in amateur sport.
The ACSC delivers its activities from the new Ansty Village Centre is at Deaks Lane, Ansty, West Sussex, RH17 5AS. The AVCT website can be found at https://www.anstysports.club.
In December 2020 the members of the ASSC voted to dissolve the Club at point in the future to be determined by the Management Committee. The members also agreed for the charitable functions and operations of the ASSC and its sections to be transferred to the ACSC. The non-charitable activities of the ASSC will be transferred into a subsidiary company of the ACSC, ACSC Services Limited. It is envisaged that the winding-up and transfer functions into the new structure will be completed at the end of 2023.

## **Public Benefit**
ACSC and its sporting sections – Ansty Cricket Club and Ansty Football Club - to deliver the public benefits that flow from its objects, including:
• An enhanced quality of life and sense of health and well-being through engagement with and participation in sporting and other leisure-time activities that bring people together, leading to improvements in physical and emotional well-being, quality of life and promote a stable and cohesive community.

• Increased opportunities to engage in sporting and leisure-time activities, leading to greater social cohesion and fulfilment.
• Enhanced active citizenship and involvement in community life through participation in community events and through volunteering.
ACSC assesses the progress in the delivery of public benefits by measuring, amongst other things, the number of participants and volunteers supporting community activities, the number and range of events delivered, and the diversification of the programme including its engagement with a broader range of community groups.
The ACSC is also working closely with funders to assess progress towards outputs and outcomes identified in the funding agreements. For example, Ansty CC has a service level agreement with the Sussex Cricket Foundation (the Foundation) against which progress is assessed annually.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
## **Achievements and performance**
The sports sections - embracing adult and junior cricket for both sexes and adult soccer – are regular users of the changing and Clubroom facilities. During 2022 the levels of activity were maintained having returned to pre-pandemic levels in 2021. Consequently, the Club continued to field 7 adult cricket teams and 10 junior teams playing regularly throughout the summer. Ansty FC run one senior and one veterans team, but is looking to expand to two senior Saturday sides.
The Clubroom and the Meeting Room are also available for booking by community groups embracing activities as diverse as baby massage, lip reading classes and a U3A recorder group.

In August 2022 the ACSC secured planning approval for the refurbishment of the Club’s equipment store and the replacement of the cricket nets on a new site. in December 2021 Mid Sussex District Council’s Cabinet Grants Panel authorised a grant of £111,405 towards the projects, some 90% of the estimated combined cost. The work on both projects commenced in 2023 and is now complete, pending the hanging of the nets on the new structure and some further landscaping.
## **Diversity and Inclusion**
As previously reported, the redevelopment of the site at Ansty has opened new opportunities for the ACSC to diversify its cricket programme and to partner with the Sussex Cricket Foundation (SCF) to reach out to disabled people. With the support of the Mid Sussex District Council and the Peter Harrison Foundation the Club is delivering the improvements in the playing facilities that helping to make Ansty a safe and welcoming environment for cricketers of all backgrounds and ability. These improvements are delivering an outdoor cricket facility for disabled people from Mid-Sussex area and across Sussex.
**Disability Cricket** . Ansty CC being the first club in Sussex to secure ECB Disability Cricket Champions Club (DCCC) status continues to host weekly cricket sessions for young disabled cricketers. In addition to cricket, our volunteers work with the parents and guardians to put together a social programme, which involves skittles nights in the Clubhouse.
**Supporting County Cricket.** Another feature of the Ansty CC programme is to host festivals and matches to support the delivery of cricket to young disabled people across the county. In 2021 the Club hosted three full county disability matches (D40, county disability matches of 40 overs), where Sussex host other county sides. The Club again hosted a ‘Super 9s’ festival where players not quite at D40 level where players from Sussex compete against sides from other counties.

The ACSC maintains financial reserves to meet its working capital requirements and to fund capital improvements. AVCT will hold working capital and reserve funds on deposit and, where appropriate, in shortand medium-term bonds to secure the best possible return subject to Trustees’ assessment of the acceptable level of liquidity risk.

The ACSC’s financial statements record the donations received from the Club’s sponsors and others of £8,350 to support the delivery of the Club’s charitable objects. The balances held at the end of the period of £14,499 are largely being held as funding towards the installation of new cricket nets.
- Pending the dissolution of the ASSC the revenues and expenditures incurred in delivering the cricket and football programmes continue to be accounted for in the ASSC financial statements and those of the cricket and football sections.
- Following ASSC’s dissolution, ACSC’s annual running costs are covered through membership subscriptions, fundraising and sponsorship. Capital projects are funded by grants and by fundraising.
