YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2023
The Trust
The Trust wa5 estobllshed under a Deed of Trust dated 28 September 2020 and was entered
into the Register of Charltles of the UK Charity Commisslon I'the Commlssion") on 5
November 2020 under registration number 1192179. The settlors on the Trust are Phllip
Gamble and Kathleen Gamble from whom the Trust may accept and receivè donations.
Under its constitution, the Trust is not allowed to accept and receive donatlons, grants, gifts
or other consideration from any other party.
Objects
The oblect5 of the Trust are set out In the Deed of Trust referred to above and are
summarlsed below:
l The advancement of amateur sport in Sidmouth, Devon.
2 The advancement of the wall bein& care and relief of suffering of the elderly with life
ending conditions.
3 The adyancement of research into the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
4 The advancement of the physlcal and mental care of former members of the Brltlsh
Armed Forces,
The Trust make5 grants and donations to charities and to other not-for-proflt organlsatlons
in furtherance of Its objects and, as a consequence, for the publlc benefit.
Activities of the Trust
During the flnanclal year ended 30 September 2023, the Trust received a monetary donation
from one of it5 settlors In the amount of £36,000 as reported in the Financial Statements
accompanyingthis Report.
In seeklng to meet the objects set out in the Deed of Trust, the trustees have Identlfied
several beneficiaries which would benefit significantly from grants or donation5 made by the
Trust. The trustees are Satisfied that the potentlal beneficiaries meet the crltbria set out in
the Trust's constltutlon documents, in particular the objects clauses, and also the
Commission's guldance on public beneflt.
Accordingly, in January 2023 the Trust entered into an agreement to provide a grant
in the amount of £60,000 to assist in supporting research being carried out by one of the

UK'S leading universities into the Improved diagnosls and treatment of prostate cancer.
The grant is being made in three equal annual instalment5. One instalment of £20,000 was
paid during the financial year and a further instalment subsequently.
The trustees have also been in discussion with two care hosplcès about providing grants to
support investments being made to irnprove the well being of patients and those being
supported. This has resulted post year end in a grant of £15,254 belng made to one of the
hospices providing in-h05pice care. Dlscussions are continuing with the other hospice whlch
provide5 princlpally care in the communlty. Both are UK registered charities.
The trustees are committed to expanding the list of those potential benoflclarles whlch are
able to benefit under the Trust's objects.
Publlc benefit
In conducting its actlvltles, the trustees conslder and take Into account the Commi55ion'5
guidance on public benefit in assessing the appropriateness of any grants and donations to
potentlal beneficiaries
Flnanclal statements
The Financlal Statements for the year ended 30 September 2023 have been prepared on
receipts and payments basis in accordance wlth the Commlsslon's guldance. They have
been the Subject of independent examlnatlon by Saffery LLP, chartered accountants, agaln
in accordance with the Commission's guldance.
During the financial year, the Trust recelved a donation of £36,0￿ (2022: £51,000} from one
of Its settlors and slnce Its formatlon the Trust's total recelpts have amounted to £123,503
12022: £87,503), Including recovered gift aid. A further donation of £30,000 has been made
to the Trust by one of the settlors after the financial year end.
Expendlture durlng the financial year amounted to £24,527 (2022: £2,475) which included
the grant of £20,000 referred to above, with the remainder being exclusively legal and
accountancy fees. The legal fee5 were paid to the Trust's solicitors, Trethowans LLP in
respect of legal work undertaken on behalf of the Trust. One of the trustees, Richard
Dollimore. is a partner in Trethowans. Neither the trustees nor any other indlviduals
received remuneration or expenses from the Trust. The surplus of receipts over payments
in the year was £11,473 (2022: £65,028). The Trust's accumulated surplus at 30 September
2023 was £95,00112022: £83,528). Ofthat Sum, £55,254 was Set aside forthe Trust's

future grant commitments arising after the financial year end.
Reserves policv
Under its Reserves Policy, the Trust holds reserves to meet the funding requirements of
future grants and donatlons approved by the trustees in accordance with its obleets and for
the publlc beneflt. In addltion, the reserves at all tlmes wlll include sufflcient funds to meet
mlnlmum of twelve months, antlcipated forward expenditure. The Trust makes and
commlts to maklng grants and donatlons wlthin the funds that are held and whlch are not
otherwise set aside for other grant commitments.
The Trust has complied with this pollcy during the financlal year and has contlnued to do so
subsequently.
The donations received to date by the Trust from the settlors are unrestrlcted.
Governance and management
The Trust Is managed by its three trust8es, two of whom are the settlors, one belng
chartered accountant, and the third trusteè bèing a practlsin8 solicitor. The trustees are
responsible for all decision5 Sn accordance wlth the Trusvs constitution. They meet as
required for that purpose and held three meetings duringthe year. On a day to day basls
the Trust is managed by Phlllp Gamble. Advlce is sought from the Trust's solicitors and
accountants as required.
The trustees are currently looklng to develop a policy In relation to the recruitment of
addltional trustees as part of successlon planning. In the medium term, the intentlon Is to
recruit an additional trustee Ideally wlth flnancial experlence.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Gamble Charitable Foundation
Trust (the Trustl for the year ended 30 September 2023.

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparatlon of the accounts In
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Act'l.
I report In respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the
2011 Act and in carryin8 Out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by
the Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the Act.

My examlnatlon wa5 carrled out In accordance with the general Direction5 glven by the Charlty
Commlsslon. An examinatlon includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparlson of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideratlon of anv
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts. and seeking explanations from you as trustees
concerning any Such rnatter5. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would
be required Sn an audit and consequently no oplnlon Is glven as to whether the accounts present
'true and falr view, and the report is Ilmited to those matters set out In the statement below.

I srATUTORY INFORMATION
The Charity 15 registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales
with the charity number 1195179. It is also recognised by HM Revenue & Custom5
a5 a charity for tax purposes.
The objects of the Charity are set out in a De¢laration of Trust dated 28 September
2020, a copy of which has been provided to the Charlty Commission. The Charity
fTles its Flnancial Statement5, Annual Return and Annual Report wlth the Charity
Commlsslon.
2 BAS15 OF PREPARATION
The Financial Statgments have been prepared adopting a recelpts and payments
basls of accountlng.
3 GRANTS RECEIVED FROM 5EThLORS
Grants received bythe Charity duringthe flnancial year were donated by PJ Gamble.
The Charity does not accept grants and donations frorn members of the public or
from any party other than PJ Gamble and Mrs KM Gamble, both of whom are Trustees.
4 GRANTS MADE
The Charlty only makes Grants in accordance wlth the objects Set out in Its Declaratlon
of Trust. During the financial year, the Charlty made a 8rant of £20,00012022', £0) for the
benefit of research into the Improved diagnosls and treatrnent of prostate cancer.

The Charity held all its cash at bank with Barclays Bank PLC.

remuneration or expenses from the Charity.
