Welcome to thè Bèn Saundèr5 Foundation annual rèport for 2023f2024. Our 4th year as a charity has been one where we have cont'nued to support families from all over Eryland, Wales and Scotland. The 8alh based foundation was created by Ben Saunder5 in August 2020. It was Ben's wrsh lo never be brgotten and he wanted to achieve this by promding holidays for Teenagers and Young Adults wth cancer. 0￿EcTIVEs AND ACTivrriES Obje¢tives and aims The prmary objectiv• is providing holidays to Teenagers and Youro Adurts who have suffered frorn cancer. Significant activities Ben's third foundation ball was hekl in February 2024 at the Apex Hotel in Bath, once again a maximum of 300 people were in attendance. The ball coincAded with what would have been Ben's 22nd birthday, il was an amazing emotional evening for everyone in attendance. Star of the night was Britain's Got Talent finalist Olivia Lines. we were also thznkftjl for MC and Comedian lan Murphy and also SW Disco supportéd for the third consecutive year. During this last year we have continued to support the Teenage Young Adult ward in erislol. Ml patients one lo this ward continue to receive vouchers to redeem in ￿ local venues. Ben's Mum and Dad Jo and Tom we also awarded the point of light award from the Prfme Minster Rushl Sunak, this was presented by our local MP Wera Hobhouse. This also led to Ben's Mum. Oad, Brother (Charfiel and Grandad Ichrisl attending the Buckingham Palace Garden paty. We also received another gtant from the National Lottery this lime for £20,000, as well as £5.000 from the Albert Hunt Trust. £5.000 from the Nim8r TrusL £5,000 frorn Band In a Bam, £4.600 from the Anti)n Jurgens Trusl, £2,500 from St James Place, £2,500 from Bruce Wake charity, £2,500 from Tesco, £1,500 from Keynsham tangent and £5,000 from the Sheffield Mutual bank who made us their charity of the year. Wthout these wonderful donations we would be unable to grow and prowde more support lor so rnany families in desperate need. Our 200 club also continues to thrive, we pay out £5(N) in prize money every month and the prO￿edS of this pay tor the ￿t¢￿ fees on the odginal hoSlday home Bens Retre*. We sold both Ben's Legacy and Ben Oens to enable up to buy Ben's Infinty Lodge140tO foot Atlas Debonair). our holiday homes are still based al Hobume Cotswdds. we still own Ben's retreat which we purchased in October 2020. These farnilie5 have come from all four comers of England as well as many from both Wales and Scotland. In total since we look our first guest in April 2021 we have now 5UPWrted over 375 families. FUTURE PLANS We rèmain aware of the eurrtnl cost of living crisis and the impact this is haMng on people's abilty to support charibes. We are also looking to increase our support lo the Teenage Young Adult ward in Bristol. The Foundation is an incredible famity led charity ¥rKI h¥8 been extrèmely in delThiering an understanding and compassionate seNice. This is due to the unfortunate circumstances that led to the creation of this Charity. We plan to continue to grow our prèsence on social media, wa CL￿￿n￿Y have just over 6.000 fo41owers on facebook and the page is very active. The Chair of Tru$le¢s has a ftll understsrtding of the trauma of b$1￿ a ehild and is the￿f¢re abla to communicate on a professional yet understanding level with all of the families who rnake contact for a holiday. Recruitment and appointment of new tn￿te@s Trustees are appK)inted by thè board of Truste￿ and rn8et four times a year to consider proposals and deal v4ith the governance of the charity. There were four trustees and the beginning Thomas. Joanne and Charfie Saundefs along wth Karen Payton. A rther ￿ were added on 1 sl August 2021 being Paul & Claire Daniels. Inductlon and trainlng of new trustees New Trustees are inducted into the workings of the charty by the Board of Trustees.
