Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	To promote, for the benefit of the inhabitants of Rutland and the surrounding area, the provision of an outdoor park facility based upon the remains of the Oakham Canal for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.
Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts	Para 1.17 and 1.19	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project has continued to work with landowners and the local authority to formalise and improve access to the canal corridor between the Springfield housing estate and the Oakham Enterprise Park.

Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project has not made any grants and is unlikely to do so unless the recipient will use the grant monies to undertake work which is in furtherance of our purpose. If such circumstances arose, we would undertake appropriate due diligence before agreeing to make any grant.

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole	Para 1.20	During the period covered by this report, The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project has continued general maintenance and completed obligations to install gates and fencing as set out in a Permissive Footpath agreement with a landowner. Additionally, development work was completed on an audio trail giving historical anecdotes about life on the canal when it was being planned, constructed and first came into use and a launch event was held in May 2024. A number of educational talks were delivered and also a number of guided tours on different themes along the canal were completed covering history, wildlife and evening bat walks.

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project is in a solvent position. There is no set timescale for completing all of the work that we would like to do. Funds will be raised for each separate project or even each stage of a project. We will not spend money on projects (or project stages) unless we have already secured the funding for the project (or stage). Funding largely takes the form of grant income and donations received.

Other o tional information One of our lead Trustees, Paul Dadford. retired In April 2024. We were please to then appolnt Paul to the role of Emeritus PresidenL The Project was successful with several funding applications during the year for the footpath construction and maintenance. In total, £1.000 of grant monies were received during the year. Our Volunteer Manager has managed a large number of work parties throughout the year, implementing our planned projects and keeping abreast of preventative maintenance works to ensure footpaths remain well maintained and accessible. We completed development of our living history audio trail which was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. An entertaining launch event was held at the Rutland County Museum and was attended by a number of local dignitaries. As a result. the public can now listen to a number of audio clips on mobile devices {or loaned headsets) whilst they walk along the tour following the route of Oakham Canal. A series of guided walks was fun over the summer and autumn months. Differentwalks covered different themes being. history, wildlife and evening bat tours. Additionally, a number of talkslpresentations were delivered to a number of local groups. These activities generated donations of £790. There was another £850 of donations from other sources. The Project has maintsined a tearn of volunteer Rangers who are actlve along the canal corridor trimming vegetation and reporting any issues they come across. The Project's website and Facebook page continue to be important channels for engaging with the local community and have generated a considerable amount of interest in our work. Our Facebook followers now exceeds 1.300. We continue to work with landowners and Rutland County Council to realign a public footpath closer to the canal corridor and to protect and promote the canal as a vital ublic reen s ace.
