Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	To promote, for the benefit of the inhabitants of Rutland and the surrounding area, the provision of an outdoor park facility based upon the remains of the Oakham Canal for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.
Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts	Para 1.17 and 1.19	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project has continued to work with landowners and the local authority to formalise and improve access to the canal corridor between the Springfield housing estate and the Oakham Enterprise Park.

Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project has not made any grants and is unlikely to do so unless the recipient will use the grant monies to undertake work which is in furtherance of our purpose. If such circumstances arose, we would undertake appropriate due diligence before agreeing to make any grant.

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole	Para 1.20	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project, working with a range of organisations and local volunteers, levelled and re-surfaced approximately 400m of footpath providing a firm level surface to enable the public to access the northern end of the project area all year round. The Project has also constructed 2 new wooden bridges to further improve public access.

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project is in a solvent position. There is no set timescale for completing all of the work that we would like to do. Funds will be raised for each separate project or even each stage of a project. We will not spend money on projects (or project stages) unless we have already secured the funding for the project (or stage). Funding largely takes the form of grant income and donations received.

Other o tional infomiation Local environmentsl company Ecology Resources has continued to support The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Projec( carrying out a number of surveys with the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust to develop our understanding of the plant and animal species within the project area. One of thelr employees, Bethany Hun( has joined the Project as a Trustee and will work with us on environmental matters as well as engaging with the younger generation. The Project has become a key partner in the Climate Action Rutland group and supports Its Inltiatives around biodiversty. The Trustees have continued to engage wldely In the local community. Employees of local company Edmentum supported our work parties, asslstlng In the laying of the new footpath surface and constructing sovoral new benches along the canal corridor. The Project Manager ran a further series of guided walks over the summer months, and provided talks to a number of local groups. generating over £350 in donations. Tho Project has grown its team of volunteer Rangers who arn active along the canal corridor trimming vegetation, engaging with the public, and reporting issues. The Project's website and Facebook page have been instrumental In engaglng wlth the local ¢ommunity and have generated a considerable amount of interest in our work. Our Facebook followers now exceed 1.000. Our Volunteer Manager has managed a larye number of work partios throughout the year. implementing our planned projects and keeping abreast of preventative malntenan¢e works to keep the footpaths well maintained and accessible. The Project has been featured on the BBC'S Escape to the Country and local MP Alicia Kearns visited the Project to lend her support to our wor The Project is in the process of maklng sèverdl funding applications for the levelling and surfacing of a further 400m of footpath to Gontinue to make the canal corridor more accessible all year round. We continue to work with landowners and Rutland County Council to realign a publlc footpath closer to the canal corridor and to protect and promote the canal as a vital public gre•n space.
