Founding Trustee Toby Mackean Founding Trustee The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. ## **The objects of the charity as set out in the governing document** For the benefit of the public to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the natural and physical environment to mitigate the effects of climate change by: a) protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of ecosystems worldwide; b) restoring fragile ecosystems where degradation has taken place by rehabilitation of the natural environment for example by planting trees, restoring grassland, protecting river banks and water catchment areas c) conserving and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources; d) conserving endangered native species of fauna and flora to promote biological diversity; e) educating about the effects of climate change, ways to prevent and mitigate climate change and live sustainably; f) promoting and funding research into climate change, the useful results of which will be disseminated to the public at large. 2) To promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public by: a) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources; b) the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities; c) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration. Page 2 ## **Sustainable Climate** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE 18 MONTHS ENDED 30[th] September 2024** ## **Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects** During the 2023/24 financial period, the Trustees of Sustainable Climate have thoroughly reviewed a range of potential projects to support our charitable aims. While several options were considered, they were ultimately not pursued for various reasons. However, we are pleased to report that the Trustees have recently engaged in constructive discussions with the leadership team of an exciting new project that directly aligns with our mission and values. This project offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a fragile ecosystem currently under threat, and it holds the potential for significant long-term environmental benefits. One of our Trustees has already visited the project site, engaging with key stakeholders to better understand the challenges and opportunities at hand. We are optimistic that we will be able to finalise our involvement in the near future. All cost related to this site visit have been met directly by the Trustee involved with no costs being incurred by Sustainable Climate. ## **Financial Review** During the period Sustainable Climate changed its accounting reference date from 31 March to 30 September. As a result, these financial statements cover an 18 month period from 1 April 2023 to 30 September 2024. The comparative figures cover the 12 months from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023. ## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** At the end of the period the reserves were £ 27,404.49 The trustees continue to consider the most appropriate way of holding the charity’s reserves so that a balance is struck between generating additional funds and ensuring guaranteed funds are available for our charitable purposes. The Trustees will continue to hold the reserves in the CAF Bank account. Page 3 ## **Sustainable Climate** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE 18 MONTHS ENDED 30[th] September 2024** ## **Fundraising** Sustainable Climate raises funds from donations from individuals. ## **Trustees Responsibilities** The Charities Act 1993 requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the trust and of surplus of the trust for that period. In preparing those financial statements the trustees are required to: 1. Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently 2. Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent 3. Prepare financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the trust will continue in existence. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the trust. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the trust and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
