## **YACnCAY Trustees Annual Report:** 

## Trustees Annual Report from **8th September 2023 – 8[th] July 2024** 

I will begin by outlining the core objectives of the charity: 

## **Charitable Objectives (as stated in the CIO Constitution):** 

## 1. **Prevention:** 

To prevent crime for the public benefit by promoting and supporting—either independently or in collaboration with statutory and non-statutory bodies, organisations, or individuals—projects and initiatives focused on crime prevention and raising awareness of its consequences, particularly in relation to gun, knife, and gang-related crime. 

## 2. **Youth Support and Development:** 

To advance the lives of young people, relieve their needs, and support their development through: a) Providing support and activities that help build their skills, capacities, and capabilities, enabling them to become mature, responsible individuals who fulfil their potential and achieve their goals. b) Offering recreational and leisure-time activities in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their quality of life. 

## 3. **Poverty Relief and Educational Advancement in Nigeria:** 

To relieve poverty and advance education for the public benefit in Nigeria through financial assistance in support of the charitable work of the _Barrister Isaac Abiodun Onibokun Foundation_ . 

## **About YACnCAY** 

YACnCAY (Youth Against Crime not Crime Against You) was officially launched on 18th September 2010 at Cherubim & Seraphim Church Hall, 175 Earlham Grove, Forest Gate. The charity was founded in memory of 17-year-old Samuel Ogunro, who tragically lost his life in Peckham in June 2010. His legacy lives on through YACnCAY. We especially remember him through the continued dedication of his aunt, Miss Iyabo Ogunro, a valued member of our Board of Trustees. 

Since its inception, YACnCAY has gone from strength to strength. We have identified our niche in mentoring and community outreach—supporting youth and families through our monthly inspirational programmes. These sessions provide guidance, motivation, and a sense of community for both young people and their parents. 

## **14th Anniversary Celebration (September 2024)** 

To mark our 14th anniversary, our dedicated volunteers and ambassadors gathered for a celebratory meal. 





This event served not only as a time of reflection and fellowship but also an opportunity to network, strengthen partnerships, and plan future programmes. 

## **International Outreach** 

We are particularly proud of the progress of our orphanage in Nigeria, in partnership with our sister charity, the _Barrister Isaac Abiodun Onibokun Foundation_ . Thanks to generous funding, we have been able to expand our reach and provide care to an increasing number of children—each receiving the support they rightfully deserve. 

## **Local Partnerships and Community Engagement** 

In the UK, we partner with _Action for Refugees in Lewisham_ , fundraising and offering support on alternate months. We also collaborate with local community groups, including churches, to deliver inspirational talks and workshops designed to uplift and empower participants.
