**Objects:** THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY:-A)EMPOWERING ENGLISH TEACHERS TO INSPIRE YOUNG PEOPLE BY WORKING REGIONALLY, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY AT ALL KEY STAGES;B)PROVIDING SUPPORT AND TRAINING EITHER / AND THROUGH FACE-TO-FACE PROCESSES, PUBLISHED MATERIALS, ONLINE SUPPORT;C)PROMOTING THE NEEDS OF ENGLISH IN THE CLASSROOM AT A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL;D)UNDERTAKING RESEARCH AS AND WHEN APPROPRIATE INTO THE STATE OF ENGLISH, AND ENGLISH TEACHERS, IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND TO DISSEMINATE ALL USEFUL RESULTS. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].

**Activities:** NATE was founded in 1963 to provide a forum for development of modern approaches to English teaching in schools. NATE continues to promote this message about English, developing and encouraging innovative and reflective approaches appropriate to the contemporary classroom, reporting to teachers on developments in policy, practice and research, and giving an independent voice to the profession.
