Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PROVIDING HELP AND SUPPORT TO HOME EDUCATED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE (MAINLY AGED BETWEEN 11-18) VIA EDUCATION TRIPS, WORKSHOPS AND FUNDED EXAMS IN (MAINLY) SALFORD AND (SECONDARY) GREATER MANCHESTER.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
These aims are met via our projects and our social media group. Support and information is also provided to members, home educators, the media, local government and other interested parties including voluntary agencies. In addition, members can opt in to receive news updates on all ongoing projects and charitable activities. We are also working with exam centers to offer discounts to home educated students exams.
HEOG is entirely run and managed by volunteers and the main activities undertaken by the charity are in furtherance of the public benefit. In organising these activities, trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year • planning a sailing trip that was due to take place but unfortunately had to be rescheduled due to the covid-19 pandemic,

• Providing educational badges whilst schools and home ed groups were closed due to the pandemic,

• A grant to expand our tech so we are able to run Minecraft Education Edition (MEE) sessions for our young people to help them learn more about STEM,

• Worked with Tutors and Exams to enable us to offer discount to home educated students to make exams more accessible to those on low incomes.
