This is the trustees’ report for the financial year 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 for the above-named charity, located at Green Close Charlton Marshall Dorset DT11 9PF.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives, aims and public benefit
The Village Hall is a community building which opened in 2019 for the purpose of hiring to the residents of the Parish and the surrounding area, both to casual and regular users for recreation, leisure and social activities and events organised by these users and by the committee or its nominees for fundraising and/or community activities. Charges are made per hour used, as agreed by the trustees, to cover all expenses and to form a reserve for the future.
Significant activities and achievements
We have continued to welcome new user groups to the main hall during the past twelve months, aided by the Hallmaster on-line booking system installed a couple of years ago. This has been augmented with a new electronic key safe, which has provided the trustees and our regular users with a secure and convenient means of access.
The car park (an important asset for the hall) has been upgraded with an enhanced entrance way removing a small portion of the original gravel surface, that had become badly rutted, and replacing with a reinforced tarmacadam surface. Improving the car park lighting, which will come into its own during the winter months, has also been a priority in an area of the village without dedicated street lighting and has been installed. Maintenance to the manhole covers and access path from the car park to the main entrance of the hall has also been completed.
Our monthly Film Nights continue to be a popular event, as well as our twice-yearly community craft fairs, which are well attended by both local artisans and members of the community.
FUTURE PLANS
The results from the monitoring system installed in the last year to determine our usage of the electricity generated by the solar panels covering the roof on the south side of the building have now been analysed and we will be taking the important decision whether the purchase of storage batteries for the unused power will be in our best interest. This will be a substantial purchase and one which we need to ensure is made with the best information available.
The trustees will continue to encourage and promote the use of the village hall and offer the residents of the village and the wider population the opportunity to continue to enjoy the popular monthly film nights and additional community events, which will be open to all.

Governing document
The charity is controlled by its constitution and constitutes a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

The charity was constituted in 1985 and as of 21 October 2020, converted to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
New trustees are appointed annually at the charity’s AGM.
