Reference and administrative information set out above forms part of this report. The financial statements comply with current statutory requirements, the charity's trust deed and the Statement of Recommended Practice - Accounting and Reporting by Charities: SORP applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with FRS 102. ## **Objectives and activities** The trustees have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning its future activities. In particular, the trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives that have been set. ## **Purposes and aims** Baby Bumps is a charity dedicated to the relief of sickness of babies from unexpected problems in pregnancy. Our mission is to improve the timely detection and accurate identification of prenatal and perinatal conditions which, without intervention, may result in harm, still-birth or neonatal death. Our strategic areas of work for this period were: - Research: supporting the development of better (more practical, accurate and effective) equipment and techniques to detect and analyse fetal biosignals - Current systems / Collaboration: ongoing assessment - Monitoring developments in the field of fetal monitoring ## **About our fund-raising** No fund-raising activities were undertaken, so no monies were raised in this period. There was also no expenditure, so income and outgoings remain zero. Once again we have not been able to open a charity account with a major high street bank, so we have been unable to consider any activities that require funds. ## **Governance:** As a charity our governance relies on good communication between Trustees and we have continued to hold virtual meetings throughout the year, as well as meeting whenever practical. Page 3 Charity number: 1191930 ## **Activities** As the charity received no funds in this period, we could only consider areas that did not require funds, or where tasks could be performed without incurring cost. ## **• Research:** No formal research was undertaken in this accounting period. There was some informal research into Artificial Intelligence (AI) to better understand its current capabilities. ## **• Current systems / Collaboration:** **Maternal Fetal Adverse Event** Dr Helena Gardiner continues to be a member of the **Terminology** (MFAET) steering group, which meets annually to update, identify and define adverse maternal and fetal events that may occur during fetal interventional procedures. MFAET is the first system to allow researchers and clinicians to systematically define and grade adverse events in pregnancy interventions using drugs or fetal therapy. It is increasingly being adopted by fetal interventional centres. ## **• Developments:** We continue to monitor developments in the field of fetal monitoring, including novel use of techniques or equipment. Overall, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to advance extremely rapidly in related fields such as medicine and signals (pattern recognition) - and this will be very important in the development of fetal ECG. ## **Plans for the future** Last year we attempted to identify a suitable sponsor or group to take fetal monitoring to the next stage, but were unsuccessful. We will continue to monitor this situation. Meanwhile, there have been some further developments that we are currently tracking to see if they will prove useful. Page 4
