**From Period start date: 2[nd] September 2022 To Period end date: 1[st] September 2023**

**Charity name: The Accessful Foundation Charity registration number: 1191925**

## **Objectives and Activities**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|‘The prevention or relief of poverty or financial
hardship of disabled people living in the United
Kingdom, in particular but not exclusively by
providing grants, information and advice to
provide them with an opportunity to build
capacity by establishing and growing a
business, becoming self-employed or improving
their professional opportunities to relieve their
needs and help them to integrate into society.’|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|The Accessful Foundation represents disabled
people from all backgrounds. This is an
extremely diverse group of people and the
largest minority group in the world.
We continue to understand the shared routes
into seeking support our beneficiaries or
potential beneficiaries share (inaccessible
employment, change of professional or
personal circumstances, exiting education etc),
we are profoundly aware our charity, and our
activities, need to be designed and carried out
in a manner that is appropriately considerate of
the levels of support required. Beneficiaries
may require support from very light (e.g.
webinar attendance) to high (e.g. mentoring).
We remain committed to providing these vital
services as a growing micro charity that works
nationally despite limited resources.
Although our activities are dynamic and
wide-ranging, they are considered with our
purpose and public benefit in mind.
We remain focused on growing our unique
charitywhich is able toprovide:|

|||- Support and networking (providing
signposting, general information/advice,
including webinars)
- A mentoring programme
- A grant giving programme to support the
realisation of projects or part projects as a
means of supporting disabled entrepreneurs by
providing funding for equipment, services,
training or other to individual beneficiaries via
an application process (this is still an area under
development which we plan to commence in
the coming financial year).
Building on our first few years as a charity we
appreciate the importance of sustainable
growth so in the coming years we will be
continuing to roll out our programmes further
and in more detail and developing them to be
the most beneficial they can be.
Alongside these main activities, we have our
overarching aim of promoting disabled
entrepreneurialism itself as a concept and
route via education, the media, community
relevant opportunities, industry promotion and
other routes.
In support of this overarching aim over the
period this report covers, we have spoken and
run workshops in schools and colleges to raise
the profile of disabled entrepreneurialism and
the work of the charity alongside engaging with
public speaking events and ongoing advocacy
for disabled entrepreneurialism and disabled
entrepreneurs.|
|---|---|---|
|Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit|Para 1.18|The trustees of The Accessful Foundation have
had regard to the guidance issued by the
Charity Commission on public benefit.|

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|This year has been another year of growth
and foundation setting. We have
successfully secured our first grant award,
which will allow us to digitalise much of our
offer, through the provision of a new
website, streamline user journeys to match
mentors and mentees, and BSL support for
our webinar programme. This project is
underway, and we’re excited about the
enhanced potential this will provide us.
We’ve also begun to deliver workshops in
schools and colleges to raise to the profile
of disabled entrepreneurialism and the
work of the charity. Our initial pilots have
been encouraging in their feedback, with
further interest in this from schools.
Relationships have been built with other
charities with similar missions to us, which
helps with our endeavours to influence
policy, and ensure disable entrepreneurs
can access the right advice, at the right
time.|

A proportion of
the income relates to planned digitalisation
of our services through a National Lottery
grant award, with the rest supporting
charity core costs. However, as a charity
we have minimal expenditure on core costs
and have sufficient reserves to cover any
ongoing costs.|

|Description of charity’s
trusts:|||
|---|---|---|
|Type of governing document
(trust deed, royal charter)|Para 1.25|CIO governing document|
|How is the charity
constituted?
(e.g unincorporated
association, CIO)|Para 1.25|CIO – Foundation|
|
Trustee selection methods
including details of any
constitutional provisions e.g.
election to post or name of
any person or body entitled
to appoint one or more
trustees|Para 1.25|As our constitution states: ‘There must be at
least three charity trustees. If the number falls
below this minimum, the remaining trustee or
trustees may act only to call a meeting of the
charity trustees, or appoint a new charity
trustee.’ Currently the charity operates with 6
trustees, with no resignations since the
previous report.
We decided, upon formation, to operate with
the minimum number of trustees to allow us
space to make external appointments of
persons unknown to the founding trustees, to
promote transparency, accountability and to
welcome key skills and experiences.
All trustees have remained in post since the
previous report (including founding trustees).
All trustees continue to gain experience
individually and as a group on how to best
serve the purpose of the charity and our
beneficiaries, with significant work on the
charity’s strategy (short, medium and long
term) being achieved over the year.
The maximum number of trustees is 12. Apart
from the founding charity trustees, every
trustee must be appointed for a term of three
years by a resolution passed at a properly
convened meeting of the charity trustees. This
has been adhered to. In selecting individuals
for appointment as charity trustees, the charity
trustees must have regard to the skills,
knowledge and experience needed for the
effective administration of the CIO. This has
been adhered to.|
