Chair’s Report
We have had a very successful year since our official opening in July 23. We have had some fabulous events, and we are still learning what does and does not work. There have been quite a few successes and one or two cancellations of events but overall, a good year. Everyone works extremely hard, and I am very proud of what we have achieved.
We have had to spend a lot of money getting things sorted so that we can operate successfully, and we have done work on the bar and the hall to achieve that. We have installed a new heating control system and garden door plus the car park barrier.
We need to determine what our plans will be for the next 12 months and bigger plans for the next 2-3 years. We have exceeded our income from forecast, and made improvements to the event booking system to streamline our processes. Ben took over as Treasurer after the departure of the last Treasurer.
Treasurer’s Report

This was our first full year operating and we have achieved great things in the community. We have been self-funding. In the last 12 months, utility and insurance bills have been our biggest costs and we have recently taken steps to reduce the financial burden. We have installed Smart Thermostats etc. This was a bIg outlay, but we will see the benefits with the cost savings on the bills. The overall cost was around £1000 and will save us more as our bills were around £600 to £700 per month until the new system was installed.
Hiring return has been around £20,000, a lot higher than the original business plan and equates to about 1000 hours of hall booking. Hopefully this year we will be able to get more accurate figures with the new booking system. Running the bar has seen a bit of a profit of £1500 which is good considering we only open a handful of times properly. We ensure our products are relatively cheap, so are competitively priced. We have received grants totalling £2212.99 from Drax and the local community. The grant from Drax was used to pay for the garden door and the donations from the community were used to pay for replacement pads for the defibulator which has been used twice this year.
Maintenance and repair costs have been faily large but this will reduce for next year as this includes start up works. Great first year. Excellent start.
We have spent £249 on cleaning costs, equipment etc. We now have a new cleaner once a week for 2 hours at £36 per week - every Thursday.
Secretary’s Report
There have been no new Trustees appointed this reporting year, and there has been one resignation during the year – Carl Gibson resigned as Treasurer and was replaced by Ben Anderson.
There has been one new Committee Member joining the management team, Clare Danks.
All current Trustees are assumed to have resigned their position after delivering their report.
